Head stud on factory sealed motor with 35r?
With an upgraded turbo, yes, get some studs.
On the IX's, the stock head bolts seem to be ok with the stock turbo when running higher than stock boost.
Once you go with a bigger turbo, studs are needed, especially with a turbo the size of a 35r. Get them, it's cheap insurance.

i would always change then and gasket. plus u can double check all the factorys work. not sayin they make many mistakes but it happens and i've seen cars with less then 10 miles on them need new short blocks and trans. even though i do work for GM. lol Mitsu much better.... i think
FWIW, Beefier, doesn't come into play here---if I am not mistaken, it has to due with clamping force and ability to best keep pressure on the head. I had read an article at one point about clamping force, Bolts-vs-Studs.. I am sure something on this topic is out there in Google...for those interested in this issue.. If I am not mistaken the strongest clamping force can be had with Studs as opposed to Bolts. Now--before the issue explodes here, I am not your expert--just sharing what I read...Due diligence is your friend...
one final question guys... i've found 2 write ups... one saying take the head off and the other saying to replace them 1 by 1 in a cross cross pattern.
doing the criss cross pattern i stil with the same gasket with pulling the head i need a new gasket and its a lot more work. Also seems like theres more that could go wrong doing it that way
i couldn't find any write up's with pictures, evomoto and the forum dont have any, or i couldn't find them at least. Does anybody have a website by any chance?
Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

OK if you really want to replace your headbolts / studs 'properly', the best way is to remove the head, ensure that it is true / flat, install new gaskets, and then bolts...That said, there are many mechanics that have been able to upgrade with the 1 + 1 method without any issues....Just find yourself a good, professional mechanic and he/she will take care of you...
if anyone has ever read corky bell's book, Maximum Boost, there is a very good statement that he makes on head studs. he says " bolts are a manufactuer's decision and studs are enegineers decisions"
a stud will allways hold better in any situation!
should you stud the head??? i think you best bet is plan the labor into you build and go from there. if you speak with you tuner or shop and they have an ultimate answer for then decide
