Trade the EVO......???????

Im not sure if this is the place to post this so sorry in advance if it is wrong....

Ok, i need some evo owners inputs here. I have an '04 Silver Evo fully loaded (leather, sunroof, infinity sound system) with 30,XXX miles on it, tinted windows, Dynoflash, and K&N drop in filter. My buddy has an '02 Z06 with a cam, long tubes, exhaust, tinted windows, lowered, about 30,XXX miles also and runs 11's.

My buddy owned an Evo a while back and just recently decided he wants another one...he goes through cars like crazy....well he said he likes mine and he is willing to sell me his car for 29K and by mine for $24,700 which would make it to where i finance a difference of $3300.

Now here is my problem....the evo is nicer, i think, on the inside, it has a better sound system, it has a warranty...unless they find out i mod it, new tires, and brakes but the maintnence is very expensive. In order to get the evo on the same playing field, power wise, as the vette i would need to invest way more then $3300...the difference in price....maintnence is cheaper and the car is VERY fast.

What would you guys do?

Nay for the vette. And yes for a little bit more then the 3 grand difference you would be be faster or dam near close. Cmon its a vette, how many do you see driving arround all over the place. The evo is much more of a rare car then the vette, and has just as much power potential if not more. Im talking about street car applications.

I'm gonna say...no.

Take the money you would have paid for the difference and start looking into
fortifying your motor...bigger turbo...etc.
Besides, you have AWD and ACD.

That vette is sweet. Why not just trade for a week or a month? As far as rare goes, a Z06 is pretty rare as well. How many plain old lancers do you see driving around? I'm not a very big fan of GM. They have several little issues... sending units and electrical glitches mianly. After a couple of years they start creeking and rattling. Somethin I wouldn't expect a $50k+ car to do. My 2003 325I sport package, leather, HID, Harman Kardon... drove 100% the same after 3 years with not 1 problem. That was a $35k car. Me...I wouldn't but then again, ask me in a 5 years when I'm 40 and I'll probably opt for the vette.

I drove the vette over the weekend and all i can say is WOW.....that car is fast!!! The fiance likes it more then the evo also.....im not sure what to do. I am in the middle of building a house and i want to have something faster then where i currently am. I want to mod the evo but like i said, building a house doesn't leave much money for modding and on top of that the EVO is very expensive maintnence wise. On the other hand the vette will start to rattle and make sounds on the inside but it is way cheaper to fix and most of my friends own vettes or camaros so knowledge will be easier to come by. The Evo is all around nicer but slower.......i can't decide....i want to go faster but i can't afford to mod.........for the most part i have to decide what will be cheaper in the long run. I won't have to mod the vette and things are cheaper for it but the evo is an all around better car.........

The Z06 vette is more a collectors car than an Evo IMHO. (Unless it's an MR and Of course your fiance likes it more....because she'll look better in the vette than the Evo. I have 2 kids so a 2 pass car isn't an option. When the kids are grown up, then yeah, I'll get one just to say I have/had one. People look at evo's just like they look at those crappy civics with the 1" stright piped exhaust and the primer gray body kit as the "same class" of car..... Kids cars. The vette is more sophisticated. If it's trouble free and dependable, then do it. Which would you feel better going to a nice hotel or restaurant in? An Evo or a Corvette?

you're getting a 911 Turbo destroyer for $3300. evos are great. but there are so many other fun cars out there, i don't know why you wouldn't. besides, the X comes out, you can rest assured you won't be selling an 8/9 at the same prices we're seeing today.
