Which Engine Management

I just recently got my 03 Evo 8 (3 days ago) and came from an STi that was 312whp and I want my Evo to be about the same. So far I bought 3in downpipe, test pipe, and cat back and stoled my MBC off my STi. I've read and read about the different options for Engine Management so heres my options so far:
-Cobb Accessport is too expensive for maps that are generic for me, considering I live at sea level in Portland and use 92 octane, but they offer a pro tune in my local area.
-MellonTuning is a maybe but couldnt find any dyno sheets to prove what they can do, and cant do a pro tune in Portland
-Jestr is a maybe but if I ever decided on doing a pro tune i cant since I live in Portland.
-TTP-engineering is a maybe but again not local enough to do a pro tune if I decide to go that route in the future.

Anybody have any insight? Just like everyone else Im trying to do this build cheap since I have over 20k in mods in my last car and dont what to make the same mistakes. Thanks ahead of time.

OK real simple for EM use the stock ecu unless your going like 500+whp. Since your up in the NW IMO John Bradly on this site is one of the best tuners around period. He lives in NW aswell. Doing a tune via email, (ie jestr, ttp and JB ) is not a bad option. Most of them will not do 1 map and thats it. They will ask for logs of your car and make changes as needed free of charge until the tune is complete. For either of those options you need a laptop, $89 cable and either mitsulogger which is free or evoscan thats $25.

You can very easily hit 300ish whp with a tbe, intake, boost controller and a tune. Again I cant say enough about John Bradley on this site. Atleast send him a PM and talk with him

Mellon, Jestr, TTP are all great. A few of the guys on the forum (myself included) got reflashed from these vendors, learned about working on the ECU in the process, and now do our own tuning.

Another option is their subscription service, where you get a limited or unlimited set of mail in flashes, so you don't have to do any tuning at all.

My advice, keep the stock ecu, get a tactrix cable, have a reputable vendor tune it, and learn from them. It is really easier than you think.

AWDsub, I have basically the same mods as you and I have ~290 whp confirmed by dll.

If you have any questions about our service check out the parts and service review section on this site.

Our customers will let you know how we do.

There are many videos of TTP-Engineering custom tuning on the dyno and many results located at www.myspace.com/tracktarmacperformance.

We also originated the RemotEflash custom remote tuning service.

Sample results are demonstrated here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ote+tunes+good

Please note that this was out remote tuning service up against an AMS custom tune in person that was completed on the dyno.

The back to back results were tested on the street using Data Log Lab for performance comparison.

I call it the way I see it Brad!! Keep up the great work!! You guys save me a "Tuning Day" for Winged Warrior IV next year, will be TONS of evo's there, and we can put the "Mellon" tunes to the test to whoop up on the other "tuned" cars!! I will have your FULL TUNE by then!! Tell Chris, might have to wait to finish my tune after the winter... Might have some bad ring issues now.... My life is stranger then a Midget Springer episode lately!

Kevin,

Coordinate with me and we can schedule a trip up a day or so before the event to custom road tune you and others.

I am going to call springer and give them your info if you keep this up....
