Same issue for me 5th gear.

Planning on taking the car in for warranty repair. Has anyone here taken there car in for warranty with Intake and Catback exhaust only? I have the Injen full intake, upper and lower IC pipes and Catback.

Wondering if I need to go out and buy a stock airbox as I don't have one.

Thanks.

I'd go as stock as possible so they have no excuse not to warranty it.

i spoke to alex at dog box racing about this problem since i also have it on my evo. He told me that alot of the ix have this issue with the 5th gear synchro due to poor oiling to the synchro. so if you take it back to the dealer it will eventually happen again.

If they do tell me that they will do the warranty work will I have to put out any money? Might be a dumb question but I've never had this new of a car with a factory warranty.
My car has 45,000 miles on it with a stock clutch and tranny. I have heard of a lot of people having issue with 5th gear grind. My tranny is very notchy, but I am going to change the fluid for the third time in 6 years and see if that helps. From my own experience with the dealerships, I would make sure you have every little thing stock and have every record including oil changes. If you give them no reason to question your regular maintenance they should help you out. I have also heard of people getting screwed by dealerships like I did. One tip is to ask them to call you every time they do anything that could cost you money if they chose not to cover it. Good luck

i have had that problem with my car and most dealers will laugh at u and say u rag ur car when u bring it up there most likely its the center diff getting loose and starting to go the way u find this out is drain ur tranny and transfer case and if u see alot of metal shavings look for a new tranny but if no shavings its your syncros but i wouldnt launch on the stock clutch if i was u ether they are very weak

i would drain the fluid and if there isnt alot of metal shavings than ur safe and its only ur sycros if there is alot of metal shavings park it asap because with evos the transfer case goes first and if u keep driving it well the tranny goes next and u will have a biggg shop bill take if from me i know
