Even as a DD, lightly modded evo will be so much more fun than an Sti.

It has always been Evo>Sti no matter how much suby guys denied it.

Sti makes ****ty power

Wife had an 06 STI Traded it for an 05 EVO. We drove the 08 STI and EVO, EVO hands down. Traded in the 05 VIII for 20K in April 08 for the X. I did like her 06 though, I liked the sound, and feel but it just didn't run, or perform like the EVO. Wifey loves her X!!!

I love my mitsu's 06 IX MR, 07 Outlander, 08 X GSR

I wouldn't mind having both - esp. GR - a lot more versatile with the hatch than the EVO X.

I didn't care for the 08 STI look at all! it looks like a Ford Focus..... The 08 Evo trunk sucks! it's worthless.

Glad I found this thread. For some reason all day today I've been thinking maybe I should have gone with an STi. This is after two years of being certain I got the right car.

Someone straighten me out.

Glad I don't have the STI Here but if I wanted a Stock car to stay stock and not touch it then I would maybe get a STI. But I think a Evo is a bit better all around car still

Why? Do you suddenly have a desire for extra understeer?

The STI is a great car, but unless you have to have seat height adjustment and cruise control from the factory, most reasons to pick it over an Evo are purely aesthetic and/or subjective, boiling down to personal preference.

However, I will say that the utility of the wagon style of the '08+ STIs is pretty cool.

Meh, IMO, I definitely prefer evo's over STI's. I actually work at Subaru now, in the service department. I mean, granted, I don't know that MUCH about cars technically...but atleast every week we have 2-3 STI's in our shop for problems(most come in with transmission problems).

I just like the overall look of the evo anyways.
My two cents.

You're confusing Subaru owners for nor cal residents

I've driven both cars and I must say I just love the low end torque on STI's with that sweet 2.5l engine. Solid block n tranny, just screaming for mods!!!!

And I love how subaru people are always so cool, nodding n waving n such to eachother

*Crappy gearing pre 2007, not true, actually better, shorter gears pre -07 STI with a solid tranny so not I'm not really fealing what you're trying to say.

*Tiny turbo, not so true but anyways, if you were to put a ht green 20g turbo running 20psi say bye bye to EVO tranny. I've seen many STI trannys that can handle alot more and still hold up.

*Boxer rumble sounding like a harley? Doode to each his own, some people like it, some don't. IMO pretty sweet. Still like EVO sound way better though

*TMIC = less lagg actually!

*Hood scoop causing hood to shake? first of, I have never even noticed that and second, who cares?

He was referring to aftermarket applications. Switching to a FMIC (if required by the car's specific setup) will typically increase lag compared to before.

Ok, yea FMIC on a STI is more laggy than stock EVO thats for sure but STI owners who converst to FMIC usually run bigger turbos and such which I would assume that they use mostly for track.

Anyways, I love laggy cars though, just something with the feeling

^ Though it can happen sooner than you think. There's a point where the stock STI intercooler doesn't flow well enough, and also a point where even an aftermarket TMIC doesn't flow well enough either. I can't say exact numbers, but it's pretty fair to believe that you'll need to swap out your TMIC for a FMIC earlier than you'd need to swap out the stock Evo FMIC for a larger unit due to its reasonable size and ideal location given a decent hp target.

Well, I actually bought the Ralliart (EVO's little brother ) and I am happy with the decision.

I was comparing the two (STi vs. RA) and had actually decided on going with one or the other, test drove both. I prefer the RA by far! Better looks and styling (much more agressive styling), more interior room, AWD, more options, more safety features, it also feels much more solid IMO.

I have no regrets.
