Is this a good idea, what all do i need to do this swap, and how costly is it ?

MY MR has the evo 5 speed in it. It was done by Ivey, i think the only problem is the center console in one corner does not go back down flush after new tranny no biggie

 

why would you want 5spd?

 

Search. This has been covered a million times. Shep sells everything needed.

Tommy_Lee, 5 speeds are more robust than 6 speeds. Thicker gears, can be upgraded even more, whereas the 6 speed is prone to overheating, input shaft problems, etc.

Very good idea, if you planning on making power and don't wanna constantly grind gears or get locked out of gears I'd do the swap

 

Doing this to mine right now. I bought a built evo ix 5speed with a evo 8 longer 4th gear. Also bought all the swap parts used for around 200bucks shipped. I plan on a bigger turbo so that why i decided to do it plus my 6speed started grinding in 3rd so.

 

 

Why not just build the tranny? Instead of swapping it and having a leftover tranny?
