'Notchy" Shifting?

Hey
Owned my 2005 evo 8 for almost 2 weeks, loving it. Car has 37k on it and no major issues that i know of.

I am super paranoid and over analytical which is causing my OCD to explode... Every evo i test drove had the notchy shifting, inclduing the one i bought. However last night it felt like going into 2nd was extra notchy... more noticable at lower RPM ... it never grinded or kicked back, just felt notchy-er than normal...

I read somewhere that replacing some bushings makes shifting smoother? I am going to be doing my entire fluid flush within the next month, but I am convinced this is the start of something bad, someone pinch me and wake me up

Also, if something did happen to my baby like death whine or serious mess up, being a 2005 with 37k that has MBC, TBE, A/F R, Intake void my warranty? How should I approach the dealer?

Evo trannys are notchy, I was an acura guy before and I thought my tranny was trashed when I bought my Evo but its just the nature of the beast....

If I were you I would change your fluid asap and not wait so that you have at least that piece of mind.

As for bushings the shifter base bushings will help to tighten things up and a front motor mount bushing does wonders, I would stay away from the underhood shifter bushings and short shifters though but thats just me.

As for your mods, if you have the stock parts put them ALL back on before taking it to the dealer so they dont have a leg to stand on if they try to deny you because they are infamous for denying things and blame anything wrong with the driveline with anything that will give the car more power.

If you have an upgraded clutch then you are probably going to be SOL when they open everything up to check it out.

Put it back to stock, MBC and all and take it in and let them diagnose it

Agreed, they're notchy. I've actually grown to like it over smoother trannys, as I feel more confident that I'm going into the correct gear. Are you even in your warranty period still? Your cutting it close if you are.

I bought my evo on Monday and it felt notchy shifting into 3rd gear. It has 24k on it but did the 30 mile service so I know everything is good. Master tech at dealership test drove it and said everything feels fine. It's an aggressive machine you will get used to it
If your still worried put it back to stock as mentioned before go to the dealer and get the 27 point free inspection done.

I had it inspected at a mitsu dealer that was recommended by forum members here, they said it was in amazing condition and the ONLY problem was that it needed new wiper blades.... It felt fine on the way home, I am just crazy. sorry guys Paranoia + Evo = rough time

Also, I have no stock parts for it... so I will be at their mercy. I wonder if there is even any way for them to deny fixing my wing? it is faded and actually has a raw spot

They should cover the wing possibly, depends on what date your car was built on and if you are within warranty.
