if you're worried about pvc fumes, then you should be worried about microscopic dirt too. see my link above. stainless steel filters aren't that great a filter.

The Blitz filter is fine for street and track driving. It filters most dirt particles fine. The only problem would be if you wanted to go off roading or on a dirt road, then the Blitz filter wouldn't do very well.
The reason K&N filters are made with a fabric is because there also meant to go on off road vehicles, so they filter all of the dirt. Foam filters are the worst kind of filters. They allow lots of air in but they also let dirt in, too.
