Age of Lancer Evolution Owners [MERGED]
I am 35, married, and have two kids. The bottom line for me is the performance of a car. The Evo may not be as fast as some cars but it is extremely well-balanced. I can't think of another car that I would rather have at this time. I have admired the Porsche 911 TT for some time now but it doesn't offer the convenience of four doors and two comfortable rear seats- not to mention the price tag.
The BMW M3 is outhandled by the EVO and the rear seat room sucks- also $60k+.
Corvette Z06 feels like a big, wide car. No rear seats. (Great bang for buck though).
Sti- Outhandled by the EVO (and I can't get past the hood scoop).
As for the giant rear wing...
I don't like it but the EVO looks better with it than with the smaller wing, IMO. If a more tasteful wing is produced by someone, I will look into it.

Just going to the store or video store is a treat as this car is a "driver's" car from the first snick of the gearshift until I mash on the gas and take an offramp at 30 mph over posted limit and there is no body roll or chirping of tires, just a feeling of being in one of the fastest cars on the planet for the price. this car is my daily driver and I make excuses to my wife why I have to go for a drive at 10 at night just to feel this thing pull like a tractor in every gear and getting to 125 in about 14 secs I think says it all.

I'm still ahead though..... And BTW, I've also had a supercharged, slammed GSR and a couple of forced induction Miatas too.... So much for stereotypes eh?
The nice thing about being an old fart is that I've also had some very interesting cars that others haven't had a chance to get.. Who's ever heard of a Sonnett? or driven a straight 8 Buick with 3 on the tree?
I caught most of the posts, might have missed a couple...
Just wanted to say it's amazing to see how many people browse this board and do not post
I'm 28, 29 in January. The guys at work call me "fast and the furious". I pay no attention. A couple guys at work know what the car is. But really I pay no attention to the negativity. It was my $28,000, not theirs
I love the car. I've been wanting one for years now, just waiting for them to bring the EVO to America. And now, even though I'm older, I still find it to be as fun or more fun than if I would have had it at 21.
Just wanna give a
to the older folks (older than I) that have EVO's. I think it's cool that this car attracts all kinds of people, young and old. I guess the Mitsu commercials are right

SilverEVO8:
Saab Sonnet, damn son.
I bought my dream car a brand spanky new Alfa Spider first thing out of college for $4900 and I thought that was all the money in the world. It was 132hp at the crank and that was the berries at the time. I used to love to flog 2002 tii and 914 2.0 and 240zs.
Ok, I remember Dobbie Gillis too;-)
Sorry to our youngers for "history channel" short subject.
Cheers,
JS

I'm 50. 50 is a statement of chronological age. Acting 50 is a state of mind. I can't stop the former and I can definitely change the latter. And I have. My Evo makes me 25 in my mind, and now I have the time and money to enjoy it, which I sure didn't at 25. And I drive more competently now than I did then anyway. I'm having a great time with my Evo, and I love blowing off all the neighborhood youngsters in their Mustangs, Camaros and Honda ricers.

I find that whenever I encounter a 'younger' Evo fanatic, they drool over the looks and the sounds the sounds the car makes (bling-bling factor). Older car nuts tend to admire the specs the car puts out and can usually recite skid pad numbers, weights, acceleration, etc. And then there are the vast majority who are totally clueless about the car (and usually cars in general) and rather than comment on any of a dozen visible performance features the car has, comment on how funny the spoiler looks.

I'm 30 and I switched from the little spoiler to the big wing, I like it better but I kept the gt spoiler so i can switch back if the cops get too friendly.
As you know JaMa, I'm 30, and like Todd I say you're as young as you feel. I think the vast majority of EVO owners are over 25 years old. While there are a very large number of younger members on these forums, many of them do not actually own an Evolution. Also, bear in mind that some younger owners will get bored with the car sooner and/or realize that they cannot make the payments over the long term. This was the case with the WRX - of which there are now many clean low mileage examples available for cheap for exactly that reason.

i 18, my dad 46 and we both beat on the Evo, but detail it every week. my dad sellin' motorcycles for over 20 years, tackled Tony Dorsett in front of 65,000 people in 1976 and he sold 46 bikes this week for holidays. we love the yellow Evo except for it gettin crappy mileage and hard to see when changing lanes. my dad got Crown Vic and my mom handing her Lincoln LS V8 in for a G35 coupe we gonna put loud exhaust on. all u Evo guys and gals have a safe holiday.
