I remember working at a chevy dealer when I was out of school and female saleswomen laughing at guys coming in and buying Corvettes. Always "fat, bald and old". A guy in our building just bought one and I was walking around the parking lot with co workers. When they saw it they all kind of laughed and made comments about the the wing like "ready for lift off". .Even after explaning about the cars performance, they said "so what, it looks ridiculous". Maybe they'll offer the EVO GTA, which is a more grwon up looking package. The other unfortunate aspect of this car is that it has been tainted by the fact that a huge number are being bought by spoiled kids who still live in their parents basement. Not a crowd I'd like to be associated with.

Why let other people's opinions influence your decisions to that extent? You really are missing out on possibly the best all-around driving experience ever.
I got a ribbing when I got my car about the wing too.. However after they wen't for a ride in it... I never got ribbed again.. I think my comment was.. "See, at this speed, the wing really is functional" LOL And I think some of the earlier comments ring true.. Its one of those cars that is the most well known, best kept secret in performance.. And you either "get it" or you don't.. I really don't care about the ones who don't get it.. Usually I can just make fun of their mullets or something.
I'm 40, my wife is a couple of years older; the Evo is her daily driver. Sometimes we think we may be too old for a car with a monster wing, but, when we start passing Porsche's on a road course, it comes together, it transcends any age bracket.

I'm very content with my decision to buy an Evo, like one of the other posters said, I grin ear to ear everytime I drive it. There is absolutely no way I’m going to let anyone influence my decision on what car to drive. Life is too short for that.

I'm 28 and I do't feel too old for this car. Put some Evo 7 taillights on it. It will give it more of a mature look to it. It won't look so young then IMO.
I've never had anyone say anything about me being too old for this car. Everyone seems to like it.

38--This car makes me feel old too! When it's not making me feel old, I have a big woody over the fun it is.
The wing is too much for me--I am planning a de-wing project as I write.
Also, I put on a 3 inch exhaust and decided the sound didn't fit with my old man-ness.
Somewhere I can get this car to the right balance for me--it needs to be a little more sublime or subtle for my tastes. Given that, something will happen to the wing, no major mods, some window tint & something with the tail lights.
Us old guys have to represent or form a support group.

This is the first 9 page thread that I read every post. Anyone wanna know why? Because I didn't get disgusted by school girl like bickering. While there wasn't a lot of useful information on this thread, which is the reason i come here, it was enjoyable reading. Thank you everyone. I'm pushing 27 if anyone is interested.

I'm 60 years old and took delivery of my 2003 EVO on 12/15. My EVO has the small GT (standard) spoiler and that is what I wanted, draws less attention. No moonroof either, to save weight and possibility of leaks, wind noise, etc.
I bought a new 1991 Galant VR-4 in 1991 which I drove for several years as an everyday use vehicle. Then I started modifying it and taking it to high speed driving schools where I also serve as an instructor.
I will in all likelyhood not take the EVO to any driving events until it is out of factory warrantry and I will be 63 +. I will be on the out look for a wing in "Blue by You" color to use on the track at 100 to 150+ MPH speeds.
I have always been a hotrodder at heart and don't expect to change anytime soon!
