I got an idea. Let's try and make as many new threads about the same thing as we possibly can. Please, every new evo owner, make a new thread about mods and warranties. Then hopefully evom will be so clogged up with repetetive pointless threads that we won't be able to ask questions that matter. n00b

Starting the car and putting it in reverse will void the warranty

Might as well mod the living hell out of your car, because even at stock form, they are voiding warranties. Just because its a fast car, I believe that they think that everybody is abusing them. Just my .02

yep, even if your car is stock they find some way to so that you've been abusing your car... i wish there was some way that we could counter that without just having to accept it, sigh...

I just bought my 04 evo from a dealer in NY a couple of weeks ago and the service tech said i can mod whatever i want and i can still bring it in for service...they just wont warrenty the part i put in. They also gave me 3 yrs maintence free, 10yr/100.000 bumper to bumper + 5yr/60k powertrain warrenty? Is this only for the dealer i went to?

Just pray you dont have a warranty issue, they may say that now, but wait until something comes up. They will tell you to bite the bullet.

I wondered the same thing when I bought my EVO cause there were a few things I wanted to modify. I called mitsubishi and they told me this: "The only things you are allowed to change are: the muffler, Stereo, Wheels/tires, air filter (not intake), and radar detector. So needless to say I was a little disapointed but hey, they gatta cover their own Butt cause as we all know workin/fixing these cars doesn't come cheep
