Passport 8500 X50 or the valentine V1. the V1 does give you a lot of false positive though.

check out www.radartest.com I know they reviewed some jamming systems within the last year, but if they detect that your are jamming, it'd be one hell of a ticket. It's not illegal in OR and WA tho

oh yeah, and I got my Passport 8500 X50 last night, was able to cut 5 minutes of my commute so far, gotta learn where all the 'regular' X and K band hits are from stores and those 'your speed is' signs, then I'll take off even more

Escort 8500... $160 used on Ebay.
$240 in my pocket for mods vs. buying the V1.
Work pretty much the same anyways. I hear a beep, I slow down, or try to. Arrows won't help you, if you are still speeding.
Just need to hardwire it to the Evo and everything will be golden.

Radar jammers don't work. You can't effectivly jam radar. The idea behind jamming radar is not that you can take and somehow distort the radar signal, but that you send out massive amounts of junk signals back at the cops. It's almost impossible not to detect.

They're not illegal because they jam radar, that's almost unconstitutional, they're illegal because of the massive amounts of radio interfearence that they generate.

Lasers on the other hand can in fact be jammed. Depending on what the cop is using some jam all the way up to 60 ft. If cops can't get a reading by then, they'll probably just pull you over on an eyeballed speed. Laser jamming systems are about $400 or more, and not too many cops use lasers. It's about 8 - 1 Radar to Laser currently.

Just get an X50. They're super dope. That's all I can say. Of course, if they pull a POP reading, you're f'd anyway, but at least you can whine and say that POP (instant-on) is unreliable and probably fight and win. Radar detectors are a must. The $300 price will seem pretty small the first time you get a ticket that goes onto your insurance.

My radar detector keeps me company on long drives by beeping every time we pass a KFC. I think it's hungry.

BTW: The V1 is _not_ invisible to radar detector detectors. All top end radar detectors are invisable to everything except BEE, which is the bleeding edge, that even fools the V1. Plus ... if the cop has a radar detector detector, he's probably not running K or Ka band anyway, and will read you with POP or Laser anyway, which you usually can't detect until you're just about hit with anyway.

Happy ... speeding

Valentine One

The Valentine one is the best on the market. The arrows pointing in the direction of the radar is simply awesome.

You get what you pay for.

Arrows don't help you? Ha don't knock it if you haven't tried it.....I drove someone elses car with a regular radar detector without arrows and felt naked. Its awesome knowing where the cops are hitting you from so you know what action to take....i could go on forever saying why the arrow system is superior to a "beep" , but then again most people that say that they are worthless don't have a V-1, say that they have used it when they haven't, or just have no clue.

That sucks that all radar detectors aren't invisible to police, but then again there are only a couple states that they are illegal anyways..ooooh well.

Passport 8500, has paid for itself.

The arrows don't really help you on the valentine 1. (both my friends have them) You feel naked because you are used to relying on the arrows, once the detector goes off you should slow down anyways, no matter what. The only thing that is better is it is upgradeable.

LISTEN, you like your Passport, that's cool. Don't diss what you don't have. Swap with your friend for a week, go back and then post. Then again you'll probably still diss the V-1 out of spite. Bottom line is get what you can afford, but if you can swing the cash for a V-1 then get it. And to me the fact that you can send it in for upgrades was a big selling point, who want's to be stuck with a $300 obsolete box after a couple of years?

ok, not my opinions, but based on this article, the V1 is in need of some major updates. Yes, arrows are nice to have, but as soon as I get any hits on my 8500 X50, I'm on the brakes gettin down to the speed limit. And the 8500 has to share the title of 'worlds greatest' with a BEL unit no less
