Question Everyday use monster

Hi!

I'm quite new here and new user of Evo 8. I'm driving a lot - sometimes 6000+ miles/month. Moreover second driver for this car is my wife .
So I'm looking for modifications which will not limit to much everyday use of the car.
What should I modify? Why should I made every of this modification (what it wil gives me)?

just general basic upgrades would be something along the lines or a new intake and catback/turbo back exhaust this will give you better sound more power and better throttle response. However to really make life easy I would reccomend buying a turbo timer first thing. THese are all simple upgrades that will really make hte most difference after this i would reccomend reflashing the ECU and getting a new clutch cus the stock evo clutch is horrible

the stock evo clutch is fine as long as you are nice to it
Im making 322 whp and have 35k on my stock clutch. It holds just fine

Turbo-back, intake, boost control, fuel management are good mods to get you more power without hurting drivability. When you go to bigger injectors, cams, and stuff like that, that is when the drivability starts to go down. But it's not bad, just not like stock.

What I have and what I plan to have

I already have Turbo Timer - it was dealer gift

I will change intake, exhaust, BOV and ECU for sure - as good platform to make mods.
All parts will be HKS - except ECU - I will use Autronic.

What more to change?

If Turbo - which one? 3071R?
Fuel pump - Wallbro?
Injectors? Which ones?
Cams?
IC?

Keep in mind how the mods will effect your warranty (if the warranty is important to you). Dealers kind of forget to mention that when they sell you the car

Jerry T,
You really need to wait before you let go of that cash. The intake, for example, will do more harm than good. One of the most powerfull Evos in the country, the Vishnu Evo, still uses the stock intake. The Standalone ECU is a not a good idea, drivability will be affected DRAMATICALLY. Standalones should only be considered for 1. Race cars and 2. For tuning experts that have a tremendous knowledge of ECU tuning.
There are other good directions to go, but I recommend the the Vishnu staged upgrades found here: http://www.vishnutuning.com/lancer_stage_zero_2.htm
I use them and they are awesome. There are a lot of new features coming onto the market that will make this path even more rewarding. Feel free to ask any questions you have about the Vishnu upgrade path.

I'll second the Vishnu suggestion. Go with the 3" Downpipe, Dump-back, XEDE and Cam gear upgrades first. best $2400 (approx) I've ever spent. Took baby out for a spin a while ago ... unflipping believable.

I can find there some dyno plots. But I have questions:

1. Are they made with race gas?
2. bhp means hp on crank?

Look at https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=92978

There are the results from dyno for my friend's Evo 8 - the price of the mods was on level of $3500 in Poland so it is about $3000 in USA

What you thing about it?

Not too shabby (nice numbers). re: Vishnu bhp == Brake Horse Power. Brake horse power is the measurement of horse power via friction. The amount of work absorbed by the friction brake is use to calculate the amount of power generated by the engine. This typically refers to the amount of power available at the flywheel/crank.

The numbers on the Vishnu site are likely based on 93 octane.

I'm looking for the 340-360 range, which should put me at 300 - 310 at the wheels.

1. No, not race gas. In fact those dyno results are made with 91 octane, which is the best we Californians are able to get at filling stations due to smog regulations.

2. bhp = horsepower on crank

One of my friends (Evotomig) is Polish and he has one of the fastest Vishnu upgraded cars on the road. I'll have him say hello here if possible. But feel free to look up his screenname and write him a PM in Polish or English.

Good luck, and don't forget to have winter tires ready in a couple of months.
