remove evo 8 shift boot?

i been searching for a while now, i know in my evo MR i just unclip the top of the boot, remove the ash tray, pull that gray panel off then unscrew the boot from the bottom,

now on a evo 8? same thing? how do i take the boot off since it has no clip like the evo mr does (the button clip that is on the bottom of the shift knob). I really dont want to remove the entire console.

thanks

To remove the shift boot you have to unscrew the shift knob one you've done that remove the trim plate which is the gray piece that holds the cigarette lighter and the ash tray, get a flathead and put it on the side and lift up the gray piece after, you will notice that the cigarette lighter is attached by some cables unplug the cables and you should able to take off the gray piece carefully . Once the gray piece is off , flip it over you will see 4 screws , get a a screwdriver and unscrew every single one . The shift boot should come right off the trim plate .
