Note what octane you will be using the car on when you send in the ECU and I will make sure its safe for you. All of the beginning cal files are made on 93oct, but I can adjust the tune for your slightly so that it will work on your gas.

On the octane topic..Just wondering if you guys have done any testing using E85, and how safe or not safe it is to run E85

We have not done any E85 testing on the EVOX.

However we have tuned more than a few cars on E85 with no issues. I've been soaking parts in E85 for about a year and the results from that are very promising. I don't think the fuel is as detrimental to fuel system parts as it was first thought. I can' t gaurantee any of the EVO X parts to be compatible, one way or another, but I am reasonably sure that it shouldn't be a problem.

However, Until they release a bigger set of injectors for the EVO X there is probably no point in tuning your car for E85 as you will most likely run out of injector at a low boost level and make maybe just a touch more power.

Is this available for the people that have the Agency Power intake? I've emailed AMS a couple times with no luck. Does anyone in the forum know?

They say they do the stock intake or theirs, I'd pick up the phone and call them to find out for sure.

Or just install your stuff then go in and it will happen.

Chris, the problem with E85 is two fold: less energy output /unit of fuel and increased corrosion. Fossil fuels have more energy per unit volume than ethanol so I assume tuning will have to take this into consideration i.e., higher A/F with E85. Additionally, ethanol sequesters water so corrosion of exposed parts are affected the degree to which and where is unclear.

Later, Ken

what email are you sending these to? Maybe our spam filter is kicking you out.

In any event we really could not flash it with an intake we are unfamiliar with otherwise the tune could be very off from where it needs to be.

Thanks that's all I needed to know. I can't recall of the top of my head what email I was sending it to, but I believe it was to sales@xxxx.

Hi Chris, i spoke to Eric via email today. I am ordering a RHD JDM Evo x with TC SST. I live abroad and tuning is limited. In trinidad where i live we have 91 octane ( r+M)/2 method. Problem is that these JDM are tuned for 100 RON.. we have 95ron here so the cars pull a lot of timing. Do you think that you would be able to do a flash for 91. I am considering getting your intake and exhaust first and then sending the ecu for a flash? would this be possible as it is a JDM which would have very different maps? Eric said that he was not aware of any ecutek tunes for the SST model as yet, but the bgn of the this thread refers to an MR with tc sst. What sort of safe hp gains can i expect to achieve with the ams intake and cat back with test pipe. I am not a racer and this would be my DD.

Yes, this is exactly what I was referring to in the post you quoted... As I said, I have tuned more than a few stand alone and stock ECU cars with E85. As a matter of fact, I am tuning another one today

I have not had an SST car here on the dyno. I am anxious to get one here so we can do some testing on it and answer some of our own questions.

As of right now I am not comfortable re flashing your ECU for you until I know more about how the transmission reacts with increased load.
