EVO 9 release date
I love how people believe that a car that is 2 years away from release would be allowed to be seen running around the 'Ring with the final production body. Does the term "test mule" mean anything to you. I guess if it sells SCC some magazines. Unless Nissan has changed their plans, which they may have done, SCC's tag line is wrong. The next GT-R is supposed to be a 2008, first shown at the Tokyo Auto Show in Dec 2007, that is according to Ghosn.
"It'll still suck *** cause it's an Infiniti G35 just like everyone expected." ROFLMAO Now that is one of the best statements in a long while. As Willie has tried to point out, the GT-R is by definition a special version of the Skyline model, it seems quite obvious to even the most casual observer that the R35, or R36 as it may be by release, GT-R will be a special version of what is called the G35 here in the States.
I agree that it would be nice to get all the goodies that the JDM Evo's come equipped with. I hope there aren't any major exterior difference for the US vs. Japanese markets. It would seem that Mitsu would want to share as many components as possible to reduce costs.

With regards to the G35 comment, I just think that it's a bastardization of one of my favorite cars of all time that they are calling that hunk of **** a Skyline in Japan. IT'S JAPAN!!! They're supposed to know what they're doing over there! I can't believe that the populace hasn't mobbed Nissan headquarters yet, and demanded retribution.
Why? Skyline is just a nameplate, a very old and storied one - but still just a name. I think the G35 is a great car, but in and of itself, it is a Skyline, and GT-R's have always been based on Skylines. Its just the same sort of angst Evo owners are going through right now having to be assoiated with the more pedestrian Lancer name. And it all goes back to why I think American are silly in general for having to have names like Acura, Lexus and Infiniti to be able to justify paying top dollar for premium Japanese products. That's why I hope Toyota fails miserably when they go worldwide with the Lexus brand. But, I'm getting carried away.
You know, you guys in the states already at least have an Evo, up here we don't. I think that you should focus your efforts on helping the Canadians get the first evo's up here... :P
BUt seriously if they're changing the bumpers, that's the problem, and we should have them here around when the US get's them in theory, right?
