Mivec engine should be an optional, so for those people who truly loves the 4g63, they can able to choose engine. just my .02s

ayc evo will start to jack up the price. but the mivec will be a nice addition.. will probably add it as soon as they figure out how to do it to the 4g63.

if its anything like a turboed 4g69, i don't think there'll be any complaints. more like a large displacement engine rather than a turboed one.

man what are u talking about. the engine is still a 4g63 they are just adding a variable valve timing to it (aka MIVEC). i think some of us are gettin confused. its not a whole new engine. mitsu is just adding variable valve timing to the 4g63. same ol evo engine now just "evolved" to give u more power.

I voted to keep the 4G63, but if the new engine is just 4G63 + MIVEC, then it's all good...as long as the block and internals are the same bulletproof 2.0 liter machine we've come to know and love, the tuners should be able to figure out how to wring the most out of the new MIVEC setup.

Is this official? Where are you guys getting your info from about the IX having MIVEC? Not doubting anyone, just want to know where this info is coming from.

well said. It's the same engine.

Let me break it down in simple terms:
4g63 engine + MIVEC = Evo IX...its not a different engine, just the same ol' one with a new head 4 MIVEC!!!

The source = SCC's rumor mongering. Mitsu hasn't placed a MIVEC on DOHC since the death of the GTO, and those motors are super rare.

If people like to get their panties all in a bunch, they'll believe all the hype. Otherwise, point me to anything/anywhere within Corporate Mitsu that they aren't conservative in anyway. Tell me how long did the 6g72 NA DOHC lasted for the 3kGT before Mitsu decided to go SOHC.

I'm just summing up whats been said here...I too saw the SCC article, but nobody has come out with credible proof of the IX having MIVEC...only time will tell if whats been said here was true, or just a whole load of malarky.

The thread has a slew of newbies; with modern comp programs, almost anyone can photochop pics. I'm will to bet someone can photochop that image too w/ VTEC badging.

I still haven't heard any official word from Corporate Mitsu.
