With all of the changes for the EVO IX, including the front end, which was supposed to be holding back the EVO from being sold in Canada, do any of you think that the EVO IX, once it comes to North America, will be available in Canada. And if so, what do you think the EVO will cost in Canada. thanks for any input
its tough enough to get the evo into the us. i dont think mitsu has plans to bring it to canada. sorry
any chance could you buy any evo in the us and get it transfered to canada?

supposedly insurance companies across canada have agreed not to because if you are involved in a crash, the front end will easily cave in, destroying the intercooler, which they dont want to have to pay for...that's why the STi is in Canada cause the intercooler is on the fron end its ontop of the engine, so thats supposedly why???
The real reason why the Evo 9 won't go to Canada is because it fails the crash tests. In canada, the car must receive no damage @ 5 mph. The CT9A chassis wasn't initally designed as a world chassis. The next chassis changed is suppose to remedy this. So I guess Canadians will have to wait until the Evo X.

Emre from this forum has posted on another forum that
is supposed to have reinforced the front end and that it will likely end up in Canada. I hope he is right. I don't know where he has his info from.
BTW this is not an insurance issue really even though ther insurance companies have lobbied for the 5mph bumper law. It is a Transport Canada rule and this is in effect a non-tarif trade barrier. The people who managed to slip one in to Canada before it made it onto the disallowed list have had no trouble insuring it. Ceratinly in BC there is always an "other" category for every manufacturer when you go to insure it (most of my vehicles fall under that category
The official
info is that it will be in canada for 2006/7. Who knows whether it will be a IX or X. I am hoping for a IX.

Well, I hope that they bring the 9 into Canada. I would certainlly buy one.
The real reason why evo isn't avaliable in Canada IS because of the bumper. You might have to pay a lot to insure an evo, but trust me, they will insure you. Put it this way, if Enzo can get insurance, your evo sure can, too. It's just a matter of how much you will be paying.
I also really hoped they will bring the SAYC to North America in general. I rather have it then not. I know that a lot of people in here "believe" that it doesn't make a difference blah blah balh... Like they have driven the evo with and without back to back...
Words from Japan is that they work very well on track, and the SAYC is doing pretty well in graval now compared to the AYC in the 7. It is being more widely adapted.
For those in Canada who wants to go for the STi, well the STi is a respectable car after all. But, you don't get the HID in Canada. That's a deal breaker for me.

Many cars in Canada comes with HID, my car does. So, if it's factory, then it is okay, but not so if you install aftermarket HID lights. Personally I am not taking my chances, cops can be real jerks at times.
In the case with STi, I believe it is becasue it has manual leveling that makes it illegal in Canada.
As far as FMIC goes, I believe that as long as you meet the crash test standard 5mph/8km, then it doesn't matter if you have FMIC or not.
There are people importing USDM STi into Canada. People had been saying that Subaru Canada "WILL" honor the warranty. You will be paying much less compared to getting a Canadian spec STi.
Just the latest info provided by a dealer that was apparently conveyed by a Japanese
tech: no Evo for Canada for another year and a half and it's supposed to be the X. This sucks supreme
. Had my hopes up with the new front bumper. Gee, I wish we could complain about not getting the JDM rear bumper.
