Is there anything special with the evo9 MR trim vs. the evo9 gsr trim? The only major differences that are worthy mentioning is the 6 speed transmission and bbs rims. I hope I am missing something b/c otherwise I don't understand why someone would pay 5k more for one.

The BBS rims alone cost around $1k apiece.

And there is a different suspension made by bilstein.

True, its hard to justify it...but I just love the idea of lower production, no nonsense factory vehicles.

Off the top of my head its got (that differs):

BBS wheels, but IX new ones are lighter I hear??
Bilstein shocks
6-speed trans
Rear diffuser
Zero lift kit (2 piece)
Gauge kit
Interior and exterior badging

bilstein suspension, color-keyed vortex generator, gauge package, zero lift kit...that's about it.

At this time I just can't find to justify spending the extra money on those items, if you did more power to you.

Yes the MR rims will be lighter than the stock trim evo rims and have a decreased rotational mass.

Perhaps if you or anyone else is would like to do the Evo and future Evo community a huge favor, post some data for dealers who are not charging over sticker perhaps?

Good points, I started this under the impression that they would sell for at or below MSRP. then the price changed after a "meeting". I am just finishing up this post that I started. Then I wont start another one like this one. I thought it would be a favor to you guys, and it turned out to be a headache. accept my apologies!

A few months financing those cars on the lot and they might be more interested in moving them so keep in touch. You have to figure it costs $80-$100 a month to have that on the lot, that adds up quick!

The USDM IX MR isn't limited production (the VIII was). I reckon they will sell more MRs than "GSR"s and RSs.

New cast Enkei wheels on IX are lighter than the old Enkei design on the VIII but still heavier than the forged BBS rims on the MR (VIII and IX).

MR also has xenons with built in fogs, which you can't get unless you buy the SSL package on the "GSR".

Obviously it has the Bilstein suspension (as mentioned above) which supposedly makes for a better daily driver without sacrificing handling.

6-speed tranny is nice (first 4 gears are "identical" to GSR/RS, 6th gear makes for more relaxed cruising and better mpg, lol).

MR also has aluminum roof (as does the RS but not the GSR) which gives it less weight, a lower center-of-gravity and better handling.

MR also has the aluminum gear knob, carbon fiber/aluminum e-brake grip, vortex generator, wheel locks, gauge kit (boost, oil temp, voltage).

The zero lift kit isn't unique to the MR and could be purchased for the "GSR" too....plus it's not standard on the MR it's a $310 dealer option.

Not sure what you mean by rear diffuser (unless you mean the rear spoiler wick as part of the zero-lift package). The USDM IX doesn't have the rear diffuser seen on the JDM/Euro IXs.....same old bumper as USDM VIII.

In my mind, the price differential for the MR is well worth it.
