The EVO IX is going out of production now. There will still be cars at USA dealerships for a few months, including the new SE model.
There will be no 2007 or 2008 model year EVO. The X will be a 2009 model, but will be available as early as February 2008 in the USA.
I got this information from Tom, the owner of Huntington Beach Mistu, which sells more EVOs than anybody. Tom is on a 10-member board of USA Mitsu dealers that deals directly with and advises MMNA/MMC.
If you want a new EVO IX, don't wait too long.

Yea the Evo's will be cheaper in japan then in america since it's a import.
Plus they'll continue them abit longer in Japan since they don't have stupid regulation guidelines they have to follow that'll keep Mitsu from building anymore after the now past date of Aug 31st.
Hopefully I'll still find a good buy on SOME dealership around here in this country for a Evo IX 2 months from now right before the snow sets in. Don't trust that local dealerships will give me as good a buy as any other dealership around in this country that still has one they need to get rid of.

talked to mitsu: in europe the 9 will be available at least to 3rd quarter of 2007 as a new car to be ordered from the factory.from then on dealerships might even try to get their hands on a few evos untill 2008.
im sorry for going slightly off topic here; i just have a quick question regaurding insurance. This is the only main thing which is affecting my purchase of an Evo IX.
I am currently 17 years old and will be turning 18 in May of 2007. (FYI: i am financially supporting this car totally on my own, im not relying on my parents) I just want to know what you guys are paying for insurance per year and what do you suppose my insurance would be around if i buy it now or i wait till im 18? my plan was to wait till i am 18, but from what you guys have sed about the IX most likely being completely sold out by then, i must reconsider things...

depends on where you live? (though I think they are starting to change that)
Call a few companies and find out... even better do a few online quotes...
You can try
farmers, AAA, all state, statefarm, wawanesa, libertymutual to name a few...
Dont forget to add some ticket $$ as well, Evo with driver at your age, pretty sure
you'll need some.
someone up there is def
.....the can imagine the evo X being a little less flashy as the pic above.....like lamer wheels etc. but other than that it seems alright aslong as it doesnt weigh too much...nobody likes to drive a tank>>>yet alone auto cross it.
