No more Evos....

The owner of my dealership just informed me that we are getting one more shipment of Evos then nothing for a year and a half until the X gets here. He got this information from the president of Mitsu North America and he said that he heard something about a "special edition", but no specifics yet. I had been under the impression that we would get a 2007 Evo IX, but I guess nothing until the '08 Evo X.

Soooo.... get 'em while you can.

Thanks for the info...we'll see how it all plays out. It would be cool if he knew some approx. prices for the upcoming models.

Meaning, there is no IX MR yet! The 'supposed' IX MR you guys have in the US is basically a slight upgrade of the VIII MR with the new front bumper (I know I'm not being specific, so lay off ) According to an April issue of a Japanese magazine called "Car トップ" (Car Top), which is fairly reliable, they said the Japanese Evo IX MR will have more than the current 280ps (276 horsepower) and will prolly adopt the Yamaha REAMS system currently used on the AUDI RS6. The date they quoted for release was September this year, which I believe to be true because when I asked a dealership (remember I live in Japan) they said there are still roughly 860 Evo IXs (of the 5,000 total) that have yet to be sold, so I doubt 三菱 (Mitsubishi) will be selling the newer MR until the rest are sold and that won't be until the end of the year! Lastly, other sources of mine have all said that the EVO X won't be released in Japan until January 2007 at the earliest! And if this were true, it prolly wouldn't be until next summer before it was out in the US. Take my info for what you will, but I'll just add that I was the first to post real pics (and by 'real' I mean taken in person) of the Japanese Evo IX Peace

...the special edition might be the MR JapanEvo04's writing about

Thats funny, when I was looking around when I bought my 8, I went to two different dealerships within 50 miles and they both said they had the last MR in CA. Lol...******* sales people.

I got the impression the OP works at a dealership, and wasn't shopping. Maybe I assumed wrong though.

Tom told me the exact same thing (over the phone). Actually what he said actually makes sense and wouldn't surprise me. In 2007 he said that US regulations have changed (as they always do from year to year- usually to improve safety or emissions) where it will require side airbags in 07 and mitsu most likely will not re-design the IX to accomodate that since it will be the last year the IX will be out. It's not cost effective for them to do it just for one year. I am not saying he is right but honestly he seems to be very honest and it's not about selling cars to him cause the IX's are flying off the showrooms between him and South Coast.

He also did mention to me too that Aug should be that last shipments for IX's. I wasn't gonna take the chance so i decided to buy my IX now. Regardless if they do have them for 07, The IX is still gonna be pretty rare and somewhat hold it's value. But it'll even be better if there are no 07's!

sorry but any information from dealers should always be viewed as suspect, seriously how many times do we have to go through this, my dealer said this, or said that. Remember the number threads talking about when the IX would be released, and how many threads started with well I heard from my dealer... and seriously how many were right. Your dealers are not and never will be a reliable source.

Of course the dealer is going to tell you that this is the last year. He wants you to buy a car now, not wait and see. Dealers pull this crap all the time. Walk into any Honda dealer and they will tell you that this is the last year for the S2000. Honda dealers have been saying that since 2001.

Also there is already a thread about these claims about 2006 being the last year:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=190748

Personally, I think it's highly unlikely that the IX would not carry on to an 07 model for reasons I outlined in the earlier thread. The new Evo X should arrive late 07 as an 08 model.
