Evo X latest info
Never said S-AYC was crap. I am hesitant of systems that interfere with braking and steering at any moment through a turn - without the driver's say so.
Let's face it. A car like the Evo needs computers to be the great performer that it is. However, too much intervention will be the demise of this car.
Agree to disagree. Ultimately, time will tell.

And, from what I have read regarding S-AYC it does not 'interfere' with breaking and steering (unlike some other DSC type systems) - the whole point of S-AYC is to make you go through corners more quickly which surely can't be a bad thing?
The Evo tackles a turn with as much ferocity as a Porsche or Ferrari. It couldn't do this without its computer. Thank God for computers that I can own and drive a car that can be compared to cars that I only dream to own. It's a virtual sense that I'm driving something much more expensive. Virtual equals cheaper and affordable. Would I rather be driving my select Porsche, a 997 GT2, or my select Ferrari, the 430 Scuderia, over the Evo? Yeah, if I had to choose. Would I still own an Evo if I were rich? Yes, I believe so. When the weather gets bad, the Evo can do more than any RWD supercar. The Evo is a rally car.
I saw the two leaked videos of the X. I wish I could understand Japanese because from what I could gather visually, I didn't see anything that made this car a vast improvement in the handling department. More focus was placed on the new gearbox.
Now, if that gearbox is the biggest story of the X, then that won't bode so well for the merit of S-AWC. This is all speculation, mind you. Only when the X is widely tested and compared to the IX, will we know how great all the new techy stuff is. I will hold my final judgment 'til then. I am skeptical. That's all.
Again, there comes a time when computers have too much say in the experience of driving. Computers can enhance or diminish the experience. I hope that S-AWC only enhances.
I love to drive. I love the purity of it.

It's common knowledge that the Evo owes most of its greatness to its computer that controls its three diffs. The Evo is, after all, a compromise between computer and driver. However, the computer doesn't have the upperhand. The driver is still very much involved.

Granted we'll still need to see how the real deal performs as Road & Track or Motor Trend folks drags an actual car to a test track & regular test drives (not to mention the anticipated duel tests between the X & STi with my 30 bucks on the X of course), but hopefully the tests on the mules should provide enough comfort that at least the S-AWC won't make the overall driving experience degrade to the boredom levels of a Camry.
I did see that video of the Evo X test mule (yellow VIII body with IX Enkeis). I saw two versions of the vid' and a number of articles. I tried finding one of those articles in particular that spoke of the writer's preference for the IX or the older system. Granted, this was a prototype from the winter of 2006. His excuse was Mitsu. still needed to work out the "bugs." Again, I tried but couldn't find this particular article.
I won't deny, though, that the test mule's line was tighter through the cones. Was it more fun to drive than the older system? Not to that one writer, apparently.
I can't wait to see the IX and X comparo.

Above all, I didn't buy my RS because it's more "ricer," as you called it. Your definition of ricer, when applied to ABS is flat wrong. Never did I say that I can brake better than the other guy in his/her ABS equipped Evo. I claimed that no ABS in an Evo can be more fun. I can more readily rotate my car because I have no ABS. I regard balance and getting sideways as more fun than sheer grip.
you know what's rice? "fun" at the expense of safety. that's what you're touting with the no ABS mentality. all cars should have ABS cuz it can save your life and the life of other people. the world doesn't need kids killing people cuz they're "having fun"....

For me, I actually prefer my non-ACD '03. When I punch into a corner on the track at xxx mph and turn in, I prefer knowing my car will always react the same way and not the way a computer thinks it should. But that's just me.
I'll try the X when it comes out, but the more computer intervention, the less fun a car is for me to drive.

^ I guess Premium only comes in TB and Creamy White? If it was WW, then it would have been a tough decision, but now I'd go with TB

The Silver one looks nice as well.
