Evo X latest info
that article was from SCC. it mainly had to do with the active steering that they were prototyping. as far as i can tell the X doesn't have active steering. the S-AWC on the other hand is better than the previous ACD AYC. it integrates the previous ACD and AYC with active braking and skid control.
So from one side of your mouth an EVO RS without ABS and it's computer intervention is the way to go. Out the other side of your mouth you just couldn't live without computer controlled diffs. Better yet, you state it's what makes the EVO great. So which is it: complete driver control or heavily aided computer control??
For me, I actually prefer my non-ACD '03. When I punch into a corner on the track at xxx mph and turn in, I prefer knowing my car will always react the same way and not the way a computer thinks it should. But that's just me.
I'll try the X when it comes out, but the more computer intervention, the less fun a car is for me to drive.

man, after reading through those brochure pictures, I have a horrible feeling that Mitsu is going more mainstream Acura-esque, with that little red info screen in between the speedometer, the paddle shifting, etc.
An Auto Evo? I know this is old news, but seeing it in action, it just looks like an Acura TL Type-S on steroids. . .a little disappointed, but glad I have my Evo VIII with it's antiquated technology. . .
It seems it'll be more difficult to modify this car with all the ECU interventional points too. . .I'd actually be concerned about having a tuner hack into it and accidentally throw off the S-AWC system, but maybe that's just my paranoia. . .

Hey atleast there is a manual transmission option. If you don't like the SST, just get the 5-Speed. I wish it was a 6-Speed manual though, but probably in the near future.
Everytime I see the EVO X it starts lokking better, I am really starting to like it a lot. I mean I love my IX, but I can just see the days with my IX are starting to get shorter and shorter, LOL.
Damn, now if only I could understand Japanese... Anyway, on the last page of the brochure (page #24), is it me or does it say that Evo X RS will have 285.6 HP and the high end GSR will have 362.25HP ?
I've never thought of it but maybe Mitsubishi will start to offer different power levels on different trims, a la FQ series in England.
Anyway, great find
Edit: And is the weight of the car specified anywhere?
Edit2: I went to lancerregister.com forum and they are saying that Evo X GSR (highest trim level) will weight in at approximately 1540kg, which is equal to about 3388 lbs (1540kg x 2.2) which is heavier than the current MR series by about 100lbs but gotta remember that physically the car is larger, more rigid, and instead of manual offers an SST tranny which itself is heavier. Anyway, it's not too bad, I predicted around 3350 lbs so it looks like it won't weight 3500 lbs afterall.

those base wheels look like ****. i hope the rs comes with power windows, cause i hate the wing, love the pw. i cant wait till the mags do some real comparos with the evo x and new sti. that will sway my decision alot. i actually like the look of the sti.
