Will EVO X be sold out rather quickly?
But I doubt they will be able to enforce that policy.
Actually it'll be 40k WITHOUT the markups. My dealer York Mitsubishi will sell them at list price with no markup at all. These are not going to be cheap and they are not going to build as many. They will sell all of them. It will initially take 6 months to get one and then you'll be able to get one off the floor for a couple of months. Then they'll be gone.
Call Derek at York Mitsubishi if you want to put a deposit on one that will NOT be marked up.

40k?
Seriously, just no.
They'll price themselves out of competition if they sell them THAT high. As amped as I am for a X, I'd holla at the not-as-pretty-but-almost-as-fast-if-not-faster subie which WILL come out @ 32-35ish (or a used IX). Which is the reason why Mitsu will have the Evo come out @ this price. Even with SST I can't imagine this goin over 37k... they'd just price themselves so far out of competition over 40k it isn't even funny. Enough people will sacrifice the name brandyness of a Lexus, Infiniti, Audi, etc. for a lightening bolt fast car UNDER 40k, but over? That's kind of pushing it... see 1997 3000GT VR-4 for details.

The JDM brochure price range after conversion will be between 27K-36K US dollars for RS to Premium fully-loaded.
Based on previous JDM Evos and comparing the US auto market pricing, the compensated price for the Evo X will be between 29K - 38K for RS and Premium.

has to do this right or else they will go bankrupt. The new line of car they are making so far doesn't disappoint and its priced accordingly. Lets hope they don't overprice the Evo X and screw themselves over.
i don't think the japanese car companies are stupid enough to make the same mistake twice. the demise of cars like the supra, 300zx, rx-7 and 3000gt was due to the astronomical prices of these "low end" brands.
i'd be willing to bet that mitsu will sell the X not much more than the IX, even with the SST which i figure will be most of the sales. if they have to lower their profits on each evo to sell the brand and the associated lancer cars, they certainly will. the evo is THE car in their lineup and in their marketing. they MUST offer the car at a reasonable price and get their brand out there. it's not about making money on the car but making money by selling the brand. the evo IS their halo car.

evo to
as bmw to 3 series...almost?
Right. The Evo is their halo car and will start at 32k or so and go up quite fast with the SST, Nav etc and end up in the 45k range. Why would they sell their halo car for less money?
Mitsu will have the Ralliart to sell for 25k-28k depending on options. 2.0 turbo, awd, viscous center diff, open front diff, 250 hp. They'll sell a ton like Subaru did with the WRX.
Evo X= $$$ halo car, Ralliart=$$ everyday car.
