Edmunds: First Drive: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
1) I still don't understand what your getting at by saying some people think the Evo started with the VIII (please explain). What does that have to do with the Evo X or I-VII.
An Evo is a AWD sports sedan...and so is the X. I, just like you, prefer the IX, but that doesn't mean the X is not a real Evo and won't perform.
2.) The bolded words are speculation, not fact. The current Sti has more HP, so what. Yes i have heard of power to weight ratio. Do you happen to have those numbers for the new Sti and/or Evo...i didn't think so.
Don't get me wrong, the Evo X may very well be crap. But unitl it's released and has a chance to prove itself, everything said is crap.

is loosing on warrenty...knock on wood I haven't had mine serviced yet...but I am curious...maybe the X was built so people don't modd them...because it seems as the the X will attract a different crowd...I know that I wouldn't even think about an eVo as my choice if the X was already out and I couldn't get my hands on the VIII or iX...but that's just me...and there's more people like me here...I would rather see the car gone and maybe brought back once
gets out of finencial trouble than to have the eVo turn into a luxury sadan with a turbo...The X will for sure be riding on its predecessors reputation to increase sales...
Speculation...whatever...do you honestly think you're gonna see much more improvement over what they have tested vs here in the US market? honestly I don't think so...I would say that will be the production model or very close to it...I wonder how much money

No offense, but I don't care why you don't like the X, why you think it's not a Evo, or what crowd you think it will attract. I never asked, and all that is subjective so to each his own.
The point of my OP was that the performance numbers are not out yet, and until they are, people shouldn't be making claims about it not performing and/or being slower than an Sti. The review itself is a TEST drive of a TEST car to SPECULATE what the final version will be.
So please voice your opinion all you want about it's looks, why it's not a real Evo, blah blah blah, but please don't fill this board with false performance claims about a car you have never driven.
Since it seems that the MR is more luxury, hopefully they make the new rs model more track oriented than previous rs models. Meaning, more extreme tweaks instead of just weight reduction and deletion or several components.
In its new guise, the Evo is sure to appeal to more women and guys who want a speedy ride to take out on the town and still be taken seriously.

My god you people are still talking about this! The USDM production model Evo X is not out yet, and no one has driven a USDM production model Evo X so no one know's what their talking about. Just STFU until it comes out.
I'm sure it will have great power and handling and everyone will like it once it comes out. This happens everytime a new Evo comes out, then everyone likes it once in the showroom.

As far as power windows they can be added but then you might as well go for a standard model
