Would U be an Idi*t to buy a X?
Going from aluminum from cast iron doesn't produce less emissions...it's all of the other changes that were done at the same time that help with that. I would venture to say the change in materials is mostly for weight savings.
Would it be a stu*id move to buy a X first year. I'm sure we all remember the mark ups on the 03 $10k +, the same might happen.
and what are you paying extra for:
-first year guniea pig (since they have kinks to work out) then you go to the dealer have them fix your problem somewhat, they inturn report to mitsu, then its fixed for the next model year
-less extras. i.e. the 05 VIII had more than the 03/04 then the IX came out with mivec
-slower steering on the X and slightly slower speed wise. These are things that might be updated on the next model years (I mean they need to improve somewhere, why not give the first X great handling and then make the steering better and bump horsepower to compete with the STI(which it WILL have to))
the smart thing to do is wait till the 09 evo X with less probs and prob better steering and higher hp.
or the alternative is the "I cant wait till later, I need the attentionand need to pay the mark up now and have more problems (on a complex car)" mentality
Just trying to help people not make the same mistake as on the 03 VIII like some freinds of mine. Thankfully I couldnt afford one till 05 then traded for a IX
anyways it will take the aftermarket atleast 5 years to get even near what they are now for the current evo, unless you want to modify the floor mats which are readily available.
I have no problem with change or evolution, just dont get sucked up in the emotion and do your purchases wisely.
I no longer have my IX (da&m expensive, but I loved it) but I do consider it to be the ultimate iteration of the 4g63, something the 4b11 wont be able to say till its final year.
PS: why degrade the steering feel, dont most companies strive for excellent steering ie bmw mercedes amg etc. Mitsu had it and ANYONE who wants an evo wants it whether rich poor young or old. FIX IT MITSU before subaru beats you, because we all know that no one remembers second place

Because X is better than IX in handling and stuff... plus I can afford it.
