2011/2012 changes for the X?
Speaking in the case of the "Slobalt SS", you are misinformed. That community is doing quite well tuning DI. It did take a bit for their tuners to get familiar with it, but they have their fair share of tephras and mr freds out there that have helped that process along. For them, DI is not an obstical. I think the Evo tuning community would be able to work with it just as well as we have a dedicated bunch.
DI just brings more headaches when it comes to making power, trust me im coming from a di ms3 and that **** is not fun nor worth it imo
Not to mention the fact the head gets gunked up like you wouldnt believe

on top of that, Mitsu has been out of WRC for years. there's no reason to keep the engine 2.0 and there hasn't been for a quite a while.
Nope no six speed manny on the x only the 9. sst is 6 speed auto. I think they did it cause many people had a lot of probs with the 6 speed manual in the 9mr, but most of the prob were with high power output from what I have seen. I wish they made a option for a 6 speed on the mr or gsr 3,000 rpm at 70 mph sucks for gas mileage, but least I dont have to downshift to a passing gear.
I wonder if you can do a 9mr swap with the X that would be cool.

It's no fad. In fact paddle shifters are pretty well available on most regular automatics and CVT's and that's not counting all the twin clutch & sequential autos that exotics and luxury cars all come with. I don't think the manual transmission is going anywhere but even before paddle shift autos over 85% of all cars sold came with automatic transmissions.
Don't hold your breath for a X with a manual 6 speed. Maybe on the XI, keep in mind that it takes time to research a new tranny. They are not just gonna magically release one out of the blue.
I agree with everyone, I would make it an option for people who want a 6 speed manual.
But to offer 3 different trannys for the same car gets costly....
Subaru offers only one tranny for the STI.
