Evolution MR - Mitsubishi Racing [MERGED]
I hope the MR makes it to the US. We've been negelected for too long by the Japanese manufacturers - saving all the special edition cars for themselves and Europe.
If the MR makes it here, I'm expecting all the suspension upgrades, lighter body, better looking lights, a front diff and maybe, just maybe the six speed. Hopefully
would give us all of those and price it btween the STi and the Evo
Highly doubt any new Evos would make it to the US with Super AYC and ACD - electronic diffs suck

Ahh, Group B - I want the 205T16 or VR6 Metro! Almost bought one 10 years ago, long story...
Unfortunately, death in motorsports is an occupational hazard - as long as people will race cars, accidents will happen. It's funny how every time F1 or WRC or whoever reg bodies mandate limits, manufacturers always find ways to squeeze more out of less. Actually, it seems regs tend to accelarate technology, making cars even faster.
As far as MR - ain't no way we'll see it in the US! We did not even get JDM (or is it ABUS - anywhere but US) toys! MR is like EVO X in evolution terms from USDM. I am becoming more and more sceptical that we'll see EVO being sold in USDM past next couple of years if that. IMO, of course.

I remember the time when people were saying thw WRX will never come to the US, the STi will never come to the US, the EVO will never come to the US
Sooner or later better EVOS will come
Quit being selfish cause you don't want a better EVO to come out

did not give us a choice. What makes you think they will have a change of heart? I will indeed be watching at evolution of USDM Evolution and upgrade whenever it will make sense.
seems to have the same marketing strategy in the US as every other import manufacturer. I am willing to bet if Nissan ever brings GTR into US, we will all be lamenting about USDM vs JDM differences.

We must also keep in mind that if the car does come to our shores it's most certainly NOT going to cost anywhere in the low $30 K range.

Evo Special Charges In At Tokyo
It's evolved! Only nine short months after taking the wraps off its Lancer Evolution VIII, Mitsubishi is set to reveal this updated version of the machine. Known as the Evo VIII MR, the newcomer will be unveiled at next week's Tokyo Motor Show.
Although virtually identical to the standard car, the MR - short for Mitsubishi Racing - features graphite grey metallic paint, a revised turbocharger and a smart new carbon fibre-trimmed interior. Officially, power output is still 280bhp, but the model will deliver more top-end torque. The Japanese firm won't comment on the MR's chances of making it to this country. However, as the car is a limited-edition special, and the British market already gets the 300bhp FQ-300 variant, it seems unlikely.
Still, UK buyers may be offered the paint and interior trim upgrades early in the new year, as part of a cost options pack.

Point taken... although you can't despute that the lack of serious injury has been more luck than judgement.... was it Tony Gardermiester hanging off a mountain side last year in Corsica in a Skoda Octavia...and although not a proper WRC car.... the recent demise of Mark Lovell and Co-driver still means there is a very high degree of danger in the sport..
Surly the WRC cars are getting quicker year to year...The HP may be mandated to 300 (which sometimes I wonder about) but the torque and traction of these cars get higher and better each season...take the new focus for instance

I still think that 300 is the actual horsepower they have, but you only need HP for top speed, and these cars aren't even going 150 mph. They do have ridiculous torque, which is why they're so fast. Auto racing is dangerous, but I don't think limiting vehicle power is the answer. If anything I think cars like the focus are far safer than their previous versions because they are so much more controllable. We might have to agree to disagree here, but I really think that in order to gain the viewers that they so desperately want, WRC can't move vehicle power down any further.

According to one of the "Future Forcasts" in one of the car mags, they talked about a new, lighter and improved version of the EVO coming next year. It'll probably be a limited-edition type thing.
There will always be enthusiasts that buy a car when it first comes out. But I've always seen that the second year and later is when they iron out the bugs and bring newer and improved versions over. So, you're always better off waiting if you want something better.
Rather than saying, "I owned one of the first EVO's available." That's cool and all, and I want one too, but I'm holding out for two reasons: 1) First year always has problems that get fixed/improved in later years 2) If there is a better model available down the road, thats the one I want!

They need to offer that color on the USDM Evo. That'd be the color for me.
And a lighter weight would be nice too.
And if the cf interior trim doesn't look tacky I'd accept that as well (but not at extra cost, thanks).
