What's the difference between spending 60k on a Chevy instead of a Nissan? Its not like Chevrolet only makes sports cars.

 

When they released the IX SE, there were no more IX's and the X came out.

Is this the same case? They are releasing the X SE, meaning no more X's and that the XI will be coming out - if at all.

 

Nothing. Its just typical badge whoriness. Ten years ago when I first started selling Mitsubishis it was very common to see doctors, lawyers, engineers (you know, the smart people that are only supposed to buy upscale imports) come in to the service drive with loaded Diamantes, Monteros and 3000GT VR4's cars that listed in the high 30's and onto into the mid 40's back in the late 90's. Of course there was the occasional 60K VR4 Spyder as well. Mitsu used to have that kind of brand cachet back then as mid step up above the typical Honda, Toyota or Nissan, but had more style and better looks then most Acuras, Lexus and Infinitis did of the day. It would be nice if Mitsu could recover that image.

 

The SE also wont have the BBS wheels i assume....? and the chrome grille/window accents...?

 

I just test drove an Evo X this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised with its performance being a former owner of two Evo IX’s. I think I will pull the trigger this summer/fall, but was curious as to any changes that Mitsubishi may make for the new model year. Today, the manager told me that per a meeting they had last week, Mitsubishi would be coming out with a package for the GSR that would include leather, (possibly called the SE, he will call me back Tuesday to confirm and physically locate one). I will let you know what i find out.

 

I am getting mine in October, and if that is true it would cover everything i wanted in the car and i would be all over it.

Saw a white VR4 convertible at Carlisle last weekend- hadn't seen one in decent shape before, it was mint.

 

I think it was a pearl coat white.

Ok guys, this is what i was just told by my salesman... I will build another thread so all can be informed and provide additional info as it comes out. Plus, i dont want to be charged with thread jacking!

After consulting with my potential dealer and further verification with their contact over the weekend, they confirmed that there will be an SE package available this year. I am trying to get a copy of the build sheet now, but from what he read off to me, the package will include the following:

GSR SE
- SST
- Bilsten
- 2 pc front rotors
- Spoiler Delete (Lip option)
- Cloth/Leather Heated Recaros (Leather is questionable...)

Will get more info as to how soon they will be available. Unfortunately for me, I am looking to have a manual tranny so this package just wont work.

 

Yes, but more accurately it was a Stealth and it was part of a late night block of shows called Action Pack. I think Hercules and Zena Warrior Princess spawned from there too.
