Thats the whole point about the RS, well that and its for people who just want the raw performance and who want the car as light as possible.

Which is why any future evo I get is going to be an RS version.
Even if it's an MR it will be an RS version.

I plan on buying the RS version..

In Gran Turismo 4... In the real world, I'll stick with the version closest to the 6 speed, 300hp MR, AYC and SACD equipped, and nice color coordinated recaros.

What's with all the nonsense of this is only a US related car decision? The MR isn't offered in the US.

I'd like it to as well, but through out the thread, people throw out, that something doesn't matter becuase we're talking about the US Evo, and well ummm the MR isn't a US Evo, which makes a lot of the talk on here inconsistent.

Check the record. Mitsubishi won't do it till Subaru does it. When Subaru brings its upgraded STi, we'll get a chance at a MR or FQ. Monkey see Monkeybishi do.

In the February 2004 issue Pupular Mechanics lists for US the 2004 RS on page 46 and the 2005 MR on page 50. As news trickles in on offerings of the MR in other markets, it looks like the lighter aluminum roof and bilstein shocks and engine improvements ( 300 ft lbs trq ) should make it here. I'm going to keep socking away money to see how the clutch issues are handled in the next model Evo and to get closer to seeing if/when the 2005 MR will arrive. Heck a 10 night cruise is less than the avg evo car payment so it works out well to enjoy the Caribbean and/or Hawaii while waiting out the cold months..

then again, it's not just about the weight diff i own an EVO 5 RS, yet it did have A/C and stereo... you really won't need anything at all except your ***** when driving it.

plus the short geared tranny is important for maximum acceleration. buy an evo for performance and not for style.

i disagree....especially if you're going to mod the evo, you want a 5 speed. less rowing throught the gears=more time engine is engaged........also, the more power you have the longer gears you need, otherwise you'll top out to soon.......5 speed is better for racing, 6 speed is better for daily driver.
