RS, pure track car

The MR's great, but the RS is a pure track car, no frills, no creature comforts, just fast and fun. Who needs music when you have engine sounds to listen to?
I put a deposit down for a white one, should get it in about a week or 2.

I'll say this, considering the RS's pricing, it does make you think, especially for the '05.

How much would it cost to turn an '05 RS into an '05 MR? The suspension changes aren't terrible. The wheels are pricey, though they're not required, as the RS has thinner body panels, thinner glass, and all that sound deadening material removed. The tranny swap is probably expensive, but it's not impossible.

You'd probably end up at the same price, if not a bit more than it would cost for the MR, but try getting thinner body panels and glass for your MR! Nevermind the fact you could then go crazy continuing to strip the RS down. I would think getting the RS down to under 2700 pounds would be cake without sacrificing the interior, with 2500 lbs being within the realm of possibility for someone who wants a true track car, including the roll cage and changing the fuel tank for a cell.

Regardless, I need something to drive every day, so my dealer already knows how to order my MR.

Thumbs up EVO MR will be here.

In case some of you were still having some doubts, the 2005 EVO MR will be coming to us. I've exchanged words a number of times with corporate and received numerous amounts of paperwork involving and describing the MR. We are not supposed to give these papers out, for the 2005 edition is nowhere near. The '04s have been recently released. They hit the market anywhere from May of '04 to June of '04, which means the MR will be here around the same months of 2005. MR ALL THE WAY BABY. I'm trading my '03 in as soon as I see the MR being unloaded from the truck.

what about the RS w/ Urban Jungle Package?..... i feel that basicly the MR is just badging, and accesories... with a different paint color. althought it would come to a flip of the coin for the MR vs the RS w/ UJ... i would most likely go with MR just b.c of the NAME!

I am not sure what person at corporate you talked to, we've had a 04 Evo for over 2 months and the MR and 05's are scheduled for fall 04 release. Hell we already ordered 05 lancers on our OTD last month. The 05 will be here long before may 05.

Attempting the quarelling of dealerships is greatly frowned upon. I applaud you for receiving the '04s earlier than some, but for the most part, the Southern California region had an AVERAGE receiving date of May 2004. The production of all '05 models will begin in December of '04. Therefore, there is no way those babies will be hitting our market any earlier than Spring of '05. To be safe, I stated Summer. However, it could be very well before summer time. They have barely released the 2004 models. What businessman in the right state of mind would overlap the 2004 production line with 2005's? -Hmmm...... Once again, I tip my hat for all your efforts in bashing, but I go by the word of facts and simple paper that comes from trees.

MR ALL THE WAY BABY!! The RS? -I'm personally not too sure about. Unless you plan on racing for money up the ying-yang and going to tracks on a regular basis, I would definately go for the Mitsubishi Racing version, hands down. ;D GOOD EVO'ing TO ALL!!

You know what... now that I think about it..... I believe I will be keeping my black EVO. As much as I love the additions to the '05 model, it still doesn't come in black!! I will own this EVO until the tires fall off. In the mean time, maybe an SUV and/or another benz on the side. YEEEUH.

Robert, sounds like you are guessimating Mitsubishi's move. Why would they overlap you ask? Can you say Spec C? Subaru is going to loose many customer due to the performance gap between the MR and the current USDM STi. Subaru must release the Spec C even though the USDM STi is a spec C w/o aggressive suspension and faster steering rack I'm guessing Subaru will not be ready until summer of 05 to counter the MR with faster steering and dare do i say. Twin scroll or Twin turbo 330+hp could always be a possibility. Remember the money maker is the WRX for subaru and if the evo has a stronger image than the STi people will not buy a wrx and search for a used evo or new one if they could afford.

Some infomation here is hard info from mitsubishi to let the enthusicts get the first crack on the car we help build. I would like to thank all for the numberous demand of ACD/LSD that was heard and will be delivered.

That's a good point my friend. But we all know the EVO is superior in handling and will not rush its production on the sole point that Subaru will be bringing theirs sooner. Whenever it's ready, they will bring it. Because EVO has the better name already, people will wait for the '05s to hit the market rather than going ahead and buying the new Subaru. That is if the new Subaru come as early as you stated above. No need to dig deeper into this, we will have to just wait and see. EVO.
