The MR won't be 300lbs lighter, it will be more like 40-50lbs.
Not even the MR RS is 300lbs lighter that the evo8 GSR.

Alright this is confusing me. If Mitsu has pushed the 04 Evos back to Oct, how can they have an 05 MR for sale at the same time?

I just read trough this and the MR merged thread. Everyone sounds like they're on crack and "reliable" sources are contradicting each other like a monty python movie. I'm just going to wait for the CEO, cheif designer, and their moms to come to my house for dinner and tell me the lowdown.

Sorry, but that's incorrect. Mitsu has said that the Evo 9 will be available in Canada, but not the 8 in any form. Until Mitsu puts 5mph bumpers on them, no Evo will be sold in Canada.

is the Evo FQ coming to US???
The FQ cars are not official Mitsu models. They are upgrade packages (using mostly HKS parts) that are installed at UK dealers. They're not available in any other market. But it doesn't really matter since it's easy and cheap to match the performance of the FQ-300 and FQ-330 here in the states by turning to AMS, Bushur, Works, Vishnu, etc.

How about a poll for "MR" vs. "6.5 Tommi Mäkinen" I would have a tough time choosing one.
Not me...I'd take the TME without blinking an eye! I've driven two TME's in my life. One was bone stock and the other was pushing 400hp. Holy crap. It was a life-changing experience for me...and what made me decide to sell my BMWs and buy an Evo.

As much as I love my Evo 8, the Evo 6--TME is in a whole other league. Lighter, more powerful, has AYC, and better handling (no undertseer at all). Brutal power delivery and has that cool blow-off-valve sound! It will take a bit of work to get an Evo 8 to match the TME...but I'm sure it can be done.

Hope you guys know that MR is basically evo 8.5 therefore MR will have 2 models, GSR and RS.

MR = Evolution 8.5
MR GSR = Evolution 8.5 standard
MR RS = Evolution 8.5 stripped down version (300ls lighter [JDM]).

Take a look: http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/EVO/lineup.html

uh, thats in Japan not the US. I dont think the MR is going to be the only version of the Evo offered, it will be a special edition to complement the base model.

The RS everyday. Lighter and lower geared (I think any way). And at least the rear diff will hold up a little longer than the AYC Diff in the MR when you turn the torque up hehe.

Keep in mind that we also get RS and GSR (regular evo) here. If you go on to the japanese site they don't even have regular evos anymore therefore the MR is consider the evo 8.5. I don't see a reason to have multiple assembly lines just to have yet another special edition for the US. It is not very cost effective.

Hmmm no more no MR Evo in Japan huh? You don't think they'd waste a huge amount of money just to give the US market a heavier slower Evo? hmmmm.. me either...

So in the US we are going to have the base Evo, the RS and the MR? All 3? If the 04 Evo release is pushed back till Oct, how is the 05 going on sale at the same time? Are they going to have the base Evo as an 04 and the MR as an 05? This is too confusing, I wish Mitsu would clear things up.
