Apparently neither you nor 3BEEPS knows what the word platform means.

Your wrong about that. that paragraph i posted is Mitsubishis own words, it's clear the lancer and lancer evo share a lot of parts including the really big one, the platform which is alot more than "some sheet metal" sounds like your the one who doesn't know much. Maybe you should e-mail Mitsubishi?

ah. that's it. yes. everyone is wrong and you are right.

a 2000 Mustang GT shares the same platform as a 1979 Ford Granada. so that means the Mustang GT is just a Granada, yes? i mean, it shares some of the same parts.

obviously none of us are gonna change your mind and you won't be changing any of ours. so we'll just leave it like you said earlier: Mitsu did a great job.

*edit: in regards to the X, i'll admit the new Lancer is a LOT closer to the evo than the older ones. i am under the assumption we are talking about all evos. are you only talking about the X?

I acknowledged on my last post that the evo and lancer are built on the same platform. Maybe you should reread it.

actually I believe the granada was based off the fox platform lol the crown vic platform however has been used since the late 70's early 80's doesn't mean its the same car.. another example would be the ford fusion and ford edge one is a cross over and the other a sedan or even the 350z and the fx infiniti crossover again both same platform different cars. Even my rsx is the old civic platform. I am fully aware what platform means..both cars may be built off the same frame so mechanical components will mount in the same places. Basically it's the same starting point except all mechanical parts can be different. Such as the engine, drivetrain(on certain platforms), suspension, brakes etc. Companies can sell 4 or 5 different cars all on the same platform doesn't mean they're all the same car. Sharing platforms is just a smart way to cut costs especially when building such a low volume car like the evo. But kaj said it best none of us are gonna change our mind so I'm done on this topic. At the end of the day the evo is a great car no matter how you look at it and I think we can all agree on that.

Does anyone have any pics yet of the revised exhaust? Besides being louder I'm curious if it's redesigned.

As i said, you make some good points, as others on this forum do, and no i'm not always right. I'm not saying a lancer and lancer evo are the same, My main point was and is how lucky we are that Mitsubishi still employs the people with the drive and passion to build a car as great as the evolution, the fact that it's based on a regular lancer makes it even more amazing. In case you haven't guessed yet i have a background in engineering and am aware of the time and money it takes. I think I'm getting tired of waiting for my X, first my dealer says november, now it's december

The SS package is only (if I recall correctly) thirty some-odd dollars less than the SSS package at invoice... I think this is lame, but it is what it is.
Leather and sunroof

Is the sunroof/leather package independent from SS pass key? Or does one package proceed the other?

Congrats, can't wait to see your pics.
