I don't understand everyone hatred with this hybrid thing. Let's leave the engineering and industrial designing to the those who created the Evo and kept it number 1 it's entire life.

Who gives a ****. If it packs a punch and its still a beast then buy if not then don't. But if you think that this is a stupid direction then you have a lot to think about because

Evolution means to evolve and the world is moving towards the electric market which has a lot of experience in technology they don't just make cars.

What they do suck at is adverting. My 11 year old sister could do a better job than who ever the hell is marketing their stuff.

Bottom line about is the Evo is an Evo and hasen't failed yet. Plus im pretty sure the guys who are making this car are WAY more passionate about it then any of us could ever be.

Think about it to create a beast like the Evo you have to LOVE that **** because it's not easy to solve these problems that keep coming up in the world. They won't fail us guys and plus this was a hit on by Merc with the CLA. They said the CLA will be the fastest thing with a 4L Turbo engine and AWD.

You really think is gong to let the greatest car they've ever created fall to a CLA?

Also I read in an interview with some where last week they were say they're shooting for 320-350 stock HP and just under if not around 300lbs tq. Of course this was just what it said in the article but it sounds about right. I'll see if I can find it a post it.

The ONLY thing I'm worried about is the after market. HOw will they design this car to be tuned and ****ed with. Or can it?

I really don't know why it's so popular to hate on Mitsubishi these days. They are a great company, their cars are fantastic, and when they say they are going to do something, they do it right. They have excellent engineers all around.

They've been working on electric performance cars for a while now. They aren't the type to rush something out the door and slap an Evolution name on it. You can bet if the next gen car is an Evo it will have the performance it match it up.

Mitsubishi has been thinking about electric Evolutions since at least 2005. I already have an Evo, I'm not really looked to change cars, I'm very happy with it, but I'm pretty excited to see what Mitsubishi cooks up next.

This company is a huge automotive pioneer (turbochargers, AWD systems, GDI systems, injection systems, etc.), discount them at your own risk.

I keep seeing the hate against mitsubishi online for what ever reason. i worked as a mitsubishi tech for 6-7 years, a ford tech for 1yr, a gm tech for 4 years along with kia for a year. The most recent dealer I worked for has most of the major companies under its roof. What i have seen is mitsubishi covers more stuff under warranty then the other dealers I worked for. The evo is a pain to deal with since people want to mess with them and hide/ put back to stock before bringing them in for major claims. If you think modding or tracking a car should be warranty try buying a ford or gm and take it in modded and see what happens. Most of the mitsu line does or did suck and has a aweful interior but thats as far as it went. maybe go to a honda dealer and watch that place for a bit. you would be suprised by the number of engine and transmission failures that fail within the 3/36 time frame compared to a couple of issues i saw under the 10/100 mitsubishi.
on the hybrid note I would love to have a car that is hybrid with the performance of the evo. they have alot of practice with the setups and have been racing ev cars like the eclipse for a long time now.

FWIW, I've been speaking to several dealers in the NY/NJ area about ordering a 2013 and having it built since the exact car I want isn't in dealer stock anywhere in the country. 3 of the dealers have told me that their next ordering period comes in the first week of March and that if they place an order for me at that time, it may be a 2014 vs. a 2013 due to the timing of when the car would be built - they may have stopped making 2013s by that point. Also, if I place an order in early March, the car would arrive until the middle (or possibly) end of May. Each of the dealers said the car I order will likely be a 2014 and that the 2014 is supposed to be the same as the existing car with possibly some small option changes.

Now, this is from dealers and they usually don't know much, but when ordering a car they have to be able to pull it up in their system to build the car and place the order.

When I go to place the order for my car in a couple weeks, I'll post here an let everyone know what goes down with 2013 vs. 2014.

I'm definitely interested to hear what you end up getting. I talked to many dealers in nj and the one who was giving me the best price on a '13 told me that they weren't taking orders on '13s anymore (this is about a month ago). Mitsu had them order a '14 for show and would be in near the end of April.

Sounds like you're hearing about the same stuff as I'm hearing. Will definitely post back in here once I place my order and they can confirm which model year.

I worked at various dealerships for the past 13 years and have observed the same thing. People love a "winner" and the car business is just as much a popularity contest as it is being a quality manufacturer. Witness the hate GM gets for taking bailout money. It is en vogue in this country to hate the domestics and buy imports, but only if they are the leading imports like Toyota and Honda. Dunno if it is because they made the Zero, but I think it started there and continue. But Mitsu has to be perfect in execution or people will claim they suck. Toyota can recall a billion vehicles yet they still get the approval from most people.

So is this '14 a different vehicle?

I doubt the 14 is different. I don't get why they can't at least do a new front bumper like they did with the Outlander Sport. It only had that bumper for two years. It doesn't have to be major, just something to keep the body fresh like they did with the CT9A.

I'm under the assumption it will be exactly the same as the '13 and I doubt it really will change at all. Wouldn't mind an SE trim or bringing back GG or EB though.

Well to be fair the original announcement said they would be continuing production of the Evolution X "through 2013". Which to me always implied that there would be a 2014 mode year (produced in 2013) and that the 2014 model year would be the last year.
