2014 Lancer Evolution
End of the day, every one of us are speculating on the price, specs, performance, or even if it will come to N/A. It's fun to speculate, but I think some of us (including myself) forget nothing is set in stone let alone even written down on note paper yet
I guess we'll see about the XI... only time will tell... long intervals of annoying time with not much information being shelled out to
fans.
There's no credible source yet to even guess at it being a hybrid. I think people forget that Mitsubishi has a targeted demographic to sell new EVOs at. I don't think previous new EVO buyers (me) would line up with this new model. So then, if they actually have people working in marketing who are they going to take sales from? Who are they going to target? It makes no sense to me now this new proposed 70k Evo.
If it is a 70k EVO, they may not know who to target, but I am definitely in this market. I really want a hybrid rally car that is fast and affordable.
70k may have been pushing it a little lol But with the MR being nearly 40k, once they 'hypothetically' throw in these hybrid components I wouldn't be surprised if the price went up 10-15k.
I would be very surprised if the new Evo (assuming it is a hybrid) is priced more than 20% of the current Evo X. Reason I say that is if you look at other cars on the market today that have a regular model and a hybrid model, the hybrid is typically only 10-15% more expensive. So that seems plausible for what we could expect of the next Evo. My $.02.
lost my business when there was no REAL manual tranny i the ralliart sportback, standard evo to much $$$$ for me especially having to change oversize wheel-tire setup. i am rowing the gears on 38,000 mile audi TT at half the cost and its an AWD roadster!!! i still appreciate what Evos are though!

there's a million things they could do to it. I'm just saying... you see either plain hybrids or performance cars, not often a combination of the two without some $$$ being dropped.
You won't be down shifting and passing this hybrid: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...-ar100648.html

market the Porsche 918 Spyder will be priced at $845,000 <------------LOOOOOOOOOOOL
You do realize that electric motors can make 300-400 lbs of tq and have tq instantly? You would have catch up because the of the downshift. Although you would pass them eventually since alot of the electric sports cars kind of die off around 100-120mph..
Most people think electric and think Prius.. which is a total misconception..

Good news.
Well the MR here in Canada is the MR Touring for 52k. With taxes you are looking at 61k.
So if the next EVO is pushing 10k more sticker price on the US variant and this translates into a 60-70K car here in Canada...oouufff... I mean I was already on the fence when I bought this car compared to an Audi S4. This would be putting the Evo in C63 AMG and Lexus IS-F territory.
For a DD that I track 6 times a year it is a bit of a no brainer to go with a better brand.
I never cared about what other people think of me in a car, but I also would never buy a Suzuki no matter how kick-*** it was.
I'm glad I got rid of my STI to get an Evo, but at this point I don't think I will be a repeat customer.

brand other than whatever you learned from women and people's trash talk. Mitsubishi is just as good if not better of a car than a merc and I own both those brands right now (evox and C300 owner) . Even the interior of the X is under-rated just because its an evo and a
logo yet I like it more than my C class. So when I choose a car I don't care what brand is on it, I don't care if the badge pulls women cause I have a girl already nor would I care about that nor do I care who it impresses. I care about the performance numbers and how the car feels when I drive it. If I have a budget limit of 50k and the evo is the same price as an AMG but puts down better handling and acceleration track numbers, I'll buy the Mitsu. We already have an example of this, who here in their right mind would pay 80k for a stupid Nissan?! oh yea, many buy the GTR anyway despite that for 80+k you could have many top level brands and nearly E63 AMG range price. The problem really isn't that in that price range it compares to "better" cars. The problem is in general 50k is reaching above the middle class wage price range and it's out of my price range. I wouldn't buy any car for 50k.

Let's say you were in charge of designing the engine for the next generation Evolution. The engine must adhere to current emissions regulations and it should have similar driveability to the current engine, however the technologies/parts can be as exotic (albeit possible and real) as you would like. Also, in this assignment, do not bother with any worries of infringement of patents.
To start, what about including:
moving to a small displacement (3 or fewer liters) flat six like many Porsche boxers,
square or oversquare
titanium rotating parts,
dry sump lubrication,
variable vane geometry turbo used in the 997 Porsche Turbo models,
air to water intercooler like in the F10 BMW M5,
a billet block like AMS is developing for a Nissan GTR engine program,
direct injection and port injection like in Toyota's D-4S,
exhaust system like the one Pagani uses,
individual thorttle bodies,
continuously variable intake manifold with an adjustable plenum,
plasma coated cylinder sleeves

It would be fun if the next gen Evo would be like the old Group A homologation special Toyota Celicas GT-4s and the Evo IIIs.
They were street legal but had all the competition hardware (read mechanical ALS) installed but disabled for road use.
Wouldn't that be something if you can switch on ALS by tapping into it with an AP or something of the sort? That of course assumes a gasoline engine and it doesn't seem like the next evo is headed that way.
