You won't be down shifting and passing this hybrid: http://www.topspeed.com/cars/porsche...-ar100648.html

You do realize that electric motors can make 300-400 lbs of tq and have tq instantly? You would have catch up because the of the downshift. Although you would pass them eventually since alot of the electric sports cars kind of die off around 100-120mph..

Most people think electric and think Prius.. which is a total misconception..

Finally, someone understand the electric section.
Although XI is a hybrid, it would still have a better launch and acceleration than petro EVO. When the car do not have enough power for the high speed, the engine and turbo will kicks in. Theoretically, it can even be faster than any previous EVO. However, it is very difficult to make a cheap hybrid with light battery. Look at other hybrids, you will able to predict the price for XI if it can go from 0 to 60 within 4s.

If that is indeed true, then either Mitsubishi is delaying the XI hybrid, or they have had a change of heart and will continue on with the current design. Personally, it would not bother me if Mitsubishi decided to continue production of the X through 2015. Given how the company is going, it would make sense to just continue selling the car as is and maximize the profits.

I'm just glad to hear that the Evo will live on! I heard a lot of rumors about the Evo no longer being made and I panicked because this is my dream car I hope that it does stick around for a while longer so I can actually buy one. I know that many expensive brand manufacturers, like Porsche, will continue similiar/same styling as to not defer prospective buyers because they don't want to have 'last year's body style.' Do you think maybe the same applies to Mitsu?

Whatever the case, I love the styling. But people ask me if I have an Evo all the time I think they should distinguish the Lancers from the Evos more imho.

Well, mitsub will probably not distinguish them. Although EVO is a very different car, but it is design based on Lancer(Mitsub said that, not me). Also, EVO is not only reserved for Lancer only just like the RA does. Therefore, EVO will not die unless Mitsub die.

I know, I know... I mean, it's not all that bad being confused for an Evo by less than informed folk. I'm stoked to know that the Evo will be around for a bit longer (worried that the new XI will be way out of anyone's budget), it's depressing up here in Maine though... I'm pretty sure we have one Mitsubishi dealership.... so it's like the Evo is extinct up North.

I keep watching this Forum section in hopes of good news. However, I think my biggest gripe at this point isn't the EVO XI's future if any (which I doubt is even being worked on) but more the Company's failing presence here.

So even if the XI is a nice platform I think I'll spend that 50k on another brand that has a better range in their arsenal.

Thats the thing.. If the XI is around 50k, it will be a tough sell.. The new CLA AMG is in the 50's I think. Why wouldn't someone just get one of those..

To sell the Mitsu, they are going to need to keep the price lower..

Because Mitsubishi is more reliable than Mercedes and EVOs have a much better suspension and handling than any AMG. However, I do agree that it would still be harder to sell at $50k because there are many other options.

Anyway, I would not mind an Electric/Diesel Hybrid. Not sure what the fuss is bout. Anyone ever heard of the Tesla Model S? 0-60 in 4.4s? Low drag? Fantastic handling?

Yes, $50k has a lot of options. However, I only love rally cars. I just like how it handle on snow, a lot of fun in winter.

Actually, it is not that bad to have a hybrid. Even Subaru is planing to turn the STI into a hybrid. I think people are over reacted to the hybrid cars. Just don't confuse with sporty hybrid and economy hybrid cars.
