Evo MR write up in Road & Track
i understand your excitment about this car but i will NEVER trade in my EVO for that. just think about it this way: you will get about 23-24 from the dealer, you will have to add around 10k for the MR and than you will own another new car that will lose 8k the minute you drive it home. also, with the 8k that you are "saving" you can do some upgrades to your evo8 and run circles around the MR in EVERY aspect. looks, performance, handling and even bling can all be upgraded for less money than that. the only thing that might be good is the fact that you will have full warrenty on the MR but we all know that the MITSUBISHI warrenty is not worth a piece of gum anyway. as for me, the only thing that i want from the MR is the aluminum roof which i am sure i can live with out. i couldn't care less about the ACD/AYC becuase you won't even feel the differnece unless you are on a track giving it 10/10. the seats, i already have brides. the 6 spd, that i REALLY don't want because the 5 is perfect. last but not least, shocks and rims, don't really need those when you have a set of VOLKS and cusco coilovers.
just my 0.02c
just my 0.02c
go to kbb.com, the evo holds its value really well. my car gets a kbb trade-in price of $28,350 and I only owe $23k. I think I'll be able to get one by the end of the year if I keep over-paying my monthly payments.
HOLY ****!!! I seioursly can't believe that car. insane! 12 second 1/4 mile, and this car isn't a dragger. That's insane. althought the f**kin stealerships will screw it up and hurt Mistsu again. Can you believe they still aren't including the EVO in any of the dealer incentives yet. Bummed. bump for a fin awesome car

bilstein shocks, bbs wheels, 6th gear, lighter roof, bigger turbo and etc...wow big deal!! these are considered minor upgrades of the evo 8. almost all of these upgrades can be done with aftermarket parts. afterall, it's still an evo 8. pretty much like the integra gs-r and type r (same car). having driven both cars back to back, both cars feel identical, but of couse the type-r performs better, BUT not by alot. you want something different, wait for the redesign evo 9.

I own an ITR before I bought my evo and I took my ITR to the track more than 30 times.......and I can tell you the different between GSR and ITR is DAY and NIGHT !!!
on the track with two equal driver...the GSR may never keep up with the ITR.
Buy the MR if:
1. You don't own an Evo VIII now, and you've been waiting to buy.
2. You are okay with spending more money up front for stock performance, instead of buying a standard Evo and spending less money modding to get the same or higher performance level.
Don't buy the MR if:
1. You own an Evo VIII, especially if it's modded already.
2. You'd rather buy a standard Evo and spend time and money to mod it (which can be fun). You'll spend less money to get the same acceleration numbers, but the MR has some features that would be cost-prohibitive to replicate (you might not desire these anyway).
Personally, I'll consider the MR, but I told myself I wouldn't buy until early 2005, so the Evo IX could be on the horizon and it would be a factor to think about. The MR sure is attractive, though. It'll be hard to wait.

If they do get em here towards the end of the year oct/nov. It'll be nice to get an 05 MR in 2004... instead of a 2003 Evo in 2004...
What's with all the negativity towards the MR, especially from current owners?

I wonder if they would ever do a carbon fiber roofed model, maybe an MR-II, heh. Then with an aftermarket carbon fiber hood, you'd have path of carbon fiber, from hood, to roof, to wing..
