Unhappy change trans oil.

first off my clutch is kinda scetchy (trans might be going out of sincro) and somethimes at high rpms if your not super carefull and have it to the floor and change kinda slow it grings.
the other day when i was trying to get into third i ended up grinding the hell out of the gear. super bad its never happend to me before and lasted kinda long and was the most horible sound ive ever heard so i want to change my trans oil to make shure theres no metal shaveings in there and just to have some new oil in there.
im looking in my manuel and i can see it says "manual transaxle" api GL-4 SAE 75W-85W or 75W-90 gear oil. is this the trans? should i put that in there or is this something elce and what should go in there?

I am personally a big fan of the mt90 mtl mix. My 03 tranny was a bit notchy and it took car of that. Much smoother after the change. Our synchros are weak generally speaking match that with a heavy clutch and abusive driving and well it may be time for a rebuilt to freshen it up. When you do change it no matter what you will have metal shavings! So don't freak out when your drain plug has shavings stuck on it! Watch out for a large amount of shavings and chunks of metal that would be a huge sign of damage.

Good luck!

I recommend to search what other people say for tranny fluid besides vendors of said product. See what shep recommends etc. I am not saying amsoil is not good but I would search and decide after reading many reviews not just a vendors etc.

i had tried Mt90 first and did not like the way the tranny felt from the start. then i switched over to Amsoil and i've been sold ever since.

I just take it to Schucks/O'Reilly. BTW - to answer one of your original questions, yes, the manual transaxle is the tranny.

you can re-use them, but if you have new ones change it.

^agreed. I re-used all except the oil drain, since I had the crush washer that came with the filter.
