Hmmm... I read the post and still am not convinced. Seemed like more user error than the fault of the oil itself. Nonetheless, that is neither here nor there. For those of you that have the RRM kit, for warranty reasons, use the oil they suggest. As for me, i have been using Mobil 1 10W30 1500 miles into my boost and it has not failed me since. Handled several 20 psi runs, one 28psi run and my current 12 psi mayhem right now, with no oil problems (knock on wood).

TO each their own, I guess.

I use the Valvoline Racing 20w50 non-synthetic but drop to VR 10w30 in winter. (Its been a cold winter here, like 20 below at times and startup was getting rough with 20w50...)

Then why do the evo's run synthetic oil? Its should be better for a turboed motor. Im sure about the oil pump but it should be able to handle it

Dont know if the oil pumps are similar or what between the cars, but ALL the turbo Miragers I talk to run synthetic with no problems, oil wise.

But like I said, if RRMs warranty suggest running mineral, run what the warranty says.

I ran RedLine 10W-40 the whole time with my turbo and zero issues. Keep checking your oil at every fuel fill up and you SHOULD be ok. RedLine's 10W-40 is equal to dino 20W-50 in protection terms. Yes their oil is expensive, but you get what you pay for.
