SRT4 is not AWD, its FWD, and i believe the first year of them didn't even come with a LSD, but the newer ones do i believe.

As for prices, you could easily find a Lancer for 10k or probabaly even less, and throw turbo and whatnot on it and smoke WRX, new ones are 24-26k, used you could find for prolly 10k w/ 150,000 miles. more around 13-17k used i would think. not to mention stock wrx is not very strong at all. Power is easily extracted however.

you can take that whole logic so far tho. you can then say that you can build an early 90s civic hatch to do 12s for $8K total.

your absolutley right, but i was just trying to give an example using 1) the lancer becuase thats the cars we own, and 2) contend it against a car that has "street credit" if you will.

your right tho, you could go get a beat *** 1g eclipse rebuild the motor or have a motor send from japan for a couple K and decimate everyone.

Id like to think of it as more than just beating people tho. I like the looks and potential image of my car, among other things.

or do what my friend did with his 1g tsi, he just upgraded the clutch and fuel pump, then tore off the exhaust adn completely stripped it and ran a 12.31 lol. it only cost him 400 and then the cost of the clutch and pump.

i totally understand and i also like the relative rarity of our car especially being heavily modded.

Too bad my car wasn't heavily modded last year...
I had the only Lancer in my area... I would occasionally
see an evo. Now I pass Lancers more and more everyday.
But the modded ones I see are very rare, I see a modded
lancer maybe once a month.

Just to clarify this... Vizcious had his turbo stuff prior to working for RRM. He purchased it used and then became an employee and installed it at the shop.

He is a true smart shopper and patient... he waited for the used car... he waited for a used kit... hell hes just got a lot of us beat on things since he had the patients to wait.

That being said i think the kit offers more than any other can... The RRM kit has been the only kit that i know of where people have actually purchased it as a starting platform and built off of it to go further than any others could have dreamed. Sure you could go SC but doing that i feel limits you to their products. At least going turbo gives you about 3 vendors to chose from and if you mix/match parts you could come up with a monster combination like Omarboy25 did!! He's putting down over 300whp/wtq right now.

Just be patient... keep the car... pay it off... boost the hell out of it and have fun. By the way, Omar and myself have both boosted the lancer to 12-13psi on stock rods with no problems. I've been boosting lancers at 10psi on stock pistons as well... stage 2 RRM kit requires no internal engine mods and boosts 9psi. After 12-13psi you start floating valves and it's time to upgrade springs/retainers/cam/etc.

This is a good post with good info from both aspects (negative/positive). In the end just remember to take care of your investment like hotshot said. Stupid operator errors/lazyness/or install issues can ruin your happy world. When all else fails call the supplier to get assistance.

Mike, if you hate Lancers so much, why don't you give up? Seriously. I might complain when something breaks/whatnot, but all you do is say how much you hate your little POS Lancer. Just stop then.
