Finally, Turbo! Have Questions????

Finally got it all on and running! t-25 i/c @5psi right now. There is a huge difference in power with just 5psi!! But i have one concern! My EGT's seem to be pretty high. When im cruising down the road doing 60mph at about 9lbs vac my egt is about 1200. At 70mph its about 1250 or 1300. That seems kind of high. Under full boost my car goes to about 1450. I put one step colder plugs in and am running a 12:1 FMU, walbro 255 with stock injectors. But my problem is when im cruising not in boost. How do i bring the EGT's down? What do you guys thing. My MAS is between the filter and the inlet of the turbo and the BOV recirc. behind the MAS so it doesnt read it. Any ideas????

Please help

Here is where its located. Its the little black Dot right before the turbo in the middle of the piture. Could it be because its located so close to the exhaust ports? This manifold comes together quick.

Where should i go from here to lower the EGT's.

That might be in Farenheit. If so I guess that's normal. usually at idle, you get around 450c and on boost you get around 750c. But don't go past 850 or you'll be creating world war 3! 1200F is usually 650celcius so you should be ok... Just don't go past 850C or 1562F

INitial D is right.... you should see 1200 or so at cruise and 1400+ at WOT. Try not to go too far past 1600 degrees though. If you have instructions that say dont exceed 1200 degrees, they are assuming you are putting it on the downpipe, so yo uare fine.

Cool! hey airQuez can you give me a little bit of insight of jumping up to a bigger injector and the e-manage? Which injector should i roll with? Also, how many spark plug ranges did you go down? Im runnning a NGK 6 right now. Sould i go 7?

Thanks guys for all the help

Injector size would be dependent on your final goals. What is your ultimate HP goal tuned. I am running 460cc's right now (out of an RX-7) and I have to lean them out on low throttle A LOT, but on high throttle at 12 psi, they are being worked. But if you are just running 8 - 10 psi or so, then some 370cc's should be fine (assuming you are using a 1:1 FPR). If you intend on keeping the FMU, then some 310s would be ok, but it all depends on what psi you want to run at.

Emanage is a perfect intermediate tool for our cars, if you dont want to spring for full engine management. Also, the online support is excellent. I currently am not running Emanage though (I had SAFC / SITC combo from before in my aspirated days) and it is cheap and it is working for me, until I upgrade to full EMS [just need to grow this money tree], but Emanage is the way to go, if you can afford it.

Also for plugs, I went two stages colder. Currently running BKR7Es ..... no ignition problems whatsoever (knock on wood)...

As long as you're not knocking, temp is more or less irrelevant. Your probe is going to read a bit hotter with a short-runner cast manifold style. Congrats on the boost.

If i want to go with a set of 310 injectors, which car do they come from and are they going to require to be tuned down or will i be able to get away with just putting them in and going? im only talking 6 or 7 psi.

Depends... tough to give a straight answer without seeing your car and seeing your mods. You probably will, especially on low RPMs when there is no real need for extra fuel. You will have to tune it regardless, which may mean tuning them down (or up).

You can get some from any injector place like RC or whoever, or from a 93 up non-turbo Supra (315cc), 2000 up Celica GTS (310cc) or a 90-96 (i think) 300ZX twin-turbo (370 cc).

If you mean the RPW injectors, they're laser redrilled stock injectors if I remember correctly. The larger injectors may make tuning an issue, and may cause a problematic idle.
