stage 2 problems

ok so quick questions

1. power steering isnt working, what could be wrong?? one of my belts is loose, could that be the problem

2. my fans arent kickin in but my temperature is ok, and they seem to be hooked up, how do i test to see if they kick on..why would they not be on

3. it idles at like 500 rpm...will it always or jus for the lil bit...

4. my exhaust is super loud b/c my installer couldnt get the exhaust to connect w/ the downpipe, do i need to get new pipe or jus a gasket...its super super loud.

thanks...running on no sleep...

Power steering, well loose belts, hoses, electrical conenctions. The fans, have you went to the dealer for the fan controller replacement (there was a factory recall issued for that a while back). Idle at 500-600 shouldn't be too much of a problem. The dp, get a few gaskets to fill in the gap. Hope this helps...

You had a shop do this for you? Why? Was it stage2 all in one swoop, or a stage1 to stage2 upgrade? Give us a little more information on what was done.

1. It could be a loose belt, no belt, no PS fluid, bad PS pump

2. Turn on the AC and see if the second fan kicks on. They might not have plugged the fans back in. See if there is a big gray plug dangling near the battery.

3. Reset your ECU. It should not be idling at 500, but might be relearning right now. Stick with it for a couple of days not driving too hard. If it doesn't correct itself, reset the ECU.

4. wtf, why could he not get the exhaust to hook up? I have done the install myself and had 0 problems getting the exhaust hooked up other than rusted bolts. Take pictures of it, or take it to an exhaust shop and get a free estimate. At least then you would know what the issue is.

the fans should kick on when you turn on the a/c. thats pretty much a fail proof way to test i believe. if they don't, you need to check your connections.

don't worry about idle for now, that sounds liek the least of your problems.

if your belt is slipping real bad, yeah, that will cause power steering not to work. did you touch the tensioner perhaps? did you knock a hose loose that would affect the power steering pump? you could be leaking steering fluid

so whats wrong with the downpipe? do you have a stock downpipe? it should bolt right up, although you kinda have to force it i suppose. take pics, that might help

edit: dammit, jay is the superior typer

btw, me and ty got all his exhaust bolts off with wd40 and brute strength. booyah!

Check the tension on the accessory belt. Check the fluid.

sorry guys i havent gone to bed yet and im at work and its hard to stay focused

n e ways, apparently they fixed my power steering, the belt was loose or something, they fixed it...they didnt go into specifics cause i was driving to work but they said i looked worried so they wanted to let me know.

livelyjay: ya it was N/A straight to stage 2, i have no leaks, i had a lil leak w/ one injector but fixed that right away...only thing thats weird is the loud exhaust sound, fan not kicking in(but im gonna bounce that idea off of them) the piggybacks idle at 500rpm but thats about it... gimme some feedback...can i boost it a little, how long do i run it...RRM's instructions confuse me b/c they have one for stg 1 and then one instruction for someone that goes from stage 1 to stage 2...im going straight to stage 2 so... ALL IN ALL, how do i know this thing is stable enough to drive around and boost a little to show it off but not race ppl u know?

thanks guys/// im soooo hurtin right now argh...

Well, don't do any more work on your car till you get some sleep. You'll only make mistakes if you can't concentrate.

Fan
Which fans aren't working? Is the driver's side one working and the new AC fan not working? Just check the stock wires going into the driver's side fan. Make sure they are plugged in. For the AC fan with the kit, make sure they are wired up properly. I mean it's only two wires to splice in, nothing super difficult. If it's just the AC fan not working, you are fine to drive around. If neither fan is working, don't drive it at all until you fix it.

Exhaust
The only thing I can think of that would be making noise is if they forgot to put a gasket in, or forgot to put the O2 sensor back in. Wait a minute, if you're running the RRM kit, your wastegate is venting to atmosphere. Make sure the vacuum lines are hooked up correctly from the turbo to the waste gate. The exhaust will get loud when you are at wide open throttle because the exhaust will be going right to atmosphere.

fan ill try the a/c thing u guys recommended

exhaust, apparently u need a gasket but i guess we lost ours or didnt get one and he tried jus putting it together but couldnt so he kept the exhaust to the downpipe open and its like stupid loud, makes my car sound like a freakin beater...i called an exhaust shop to get that fixed like yesterday...

ok everything is more or less ok w/ the fan and power steering...

apparently i didnt get my downpipe fro RRM, i dunno that for sure gonna look under my car...

i had a question about the piggyback that is on my car configured for Stage 2 turbo...

- idle is doin ok but now when i drive it stutters...normal? why?
- if i got my original computer reflashed by mitsubishi would the piggyback work better on my car and get rid of my check engine light??

I heard the check engine light is suppose to come off, but on my car it is still on and I am running the nonIC turbo kit.
If you jumped straight to stage 2 the piggyback unit they sent you is configured with stage 2 programming.
The stage 2 piggyback configuration is the main reason for the increase in power, the next thing is the injects, since afterall, stage 2 = injectors + piggyback (stage 2 settings)
