SRT4 TD04 in Lancer?

Hey, I searched for this and only found it mentioned in the ralliart section. If I were to go custom turbo setup, I could basically use whatever turbo I wanted right? I have a friend with an SRT4 and he swapped his turbo out for the same one, just ported, and I was wondering if I would be able to use his stock turbo in a custom setup. It is a TD04LR I believe. Or would that just not be a good turbo to go with.

It should work fine. As you kind of implied, anything will fit as long as you design for it.

FWIW, I know the WRXs also use the TD04. They're most effecient when water and oil cooled, so try to be aware of that.

yeah ive seen the wrx TD04 as well when searching. I couldn't find the difference though because I think the WRX is a TD04L and the SRT4 is a TD04LR. But yeah it would be custom so I figured it would fit. Thanks

I don't know if it will work, the R stands for reverse rotation like the evo turbo. Not only that but the SRT-4 turbo has its hotside and exhaust mani. cast as a single piece, correct me if I'm wrong, I think I read that in SCC when it first came out.

yeah i saw that as well which was worrying me. This is the manifold. Doesn't look like it will work

But OBX makes a manifold for that car that looks like a normal one.

So I'm confused, but my buddy has the turbo so I can look at it in person before I buy it. If not, I'll just find something else.

Find something else. You're making things more complicated than they have to be.

Hit up NASIOC.com - going rate for a stock TD04 off the WRX is $100 shipped. And a lot of them come with very low mileage.
