I hate repeating myself but even if you're not technologically savvy, you can piece together a kit for way cheaper than a "kit" from a manufacturer. I pieced together a kit for just about the cost of an RRM kit and this included electronics, fuel management and the whole works.

I'd have to agree with this. You can get a hell of a lot more if you take your time, educate yourself and get each peice one at a time.

I waited forever and was starting to peice a kit together... but I got lucky and got one as a gift. You don't want to know how much my girlfriend spent... it would make you sick. She got an amazing deal.

I am going to head to the local shop and get a list of all the stuff he would include in a $3500 kit. That is about as much as I want to spend. It would be intercooled and use all new parts. Just covering all possibilities. Will report back of list and see if it is high enough quality.

I take it the RRM one is mine? 2600$ isn't the cost of the kit, it's the cost of the kit plus the piggyback and the Zeitronix bundle.

you are an idiot if you are about to pay $3,500 for a turbo kit when there are these for sale on the forums:

Amby's is a used RRM kit: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=280840

krnzzang84720 is all brand new parts, only used for 400 miles: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=281969

Z_Lancer_Man has a t3/t4 & manifold for sale, as an excellent start to a kit: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=281560

amby's is a great deal... But it has some miles on it.
Also, customization would be needed for piping since it is designed for manual and mine is auto
It doesn't come with an intercooler

krnzzang84720's kit would need a new turbo as well as fab the intercooler piping as well. I am not going to use a knock off, rebuilt ebay turbo.

If you put a T3/T4 turbo on a lancer then good for you. Personally I don't want MAJOR turbo lag city.

I would like to find the original owner of the turbo I have. I got it thoroughNem187, but he purchased it used from someone else. I just want to know how many miles are on it and it looks like it was a RRM non intercooled at some point and the FMIC and pipes were added later.

What do you call "MAJOR turbo lag city"??

I had a T3/T4 setup and it wasnt laggy by my standards.

Ok so I have a few questions:

1.) The kit I have does not have a down pipe. Am I supposed to use the existing downpipe for or will I have to have a new one made?

2.) How do I check to make sure my FMIC will hold boost? I've run searches but can't seem to find what I need to get to check.

3.) If my FMIC is good to go I want to paint it black... good or bad?

4.) How do I check to make sure the turbo is still going to function?

5.) What all am I missing or forgetting to check?

1. You will need a new downpipe... preferably 2.5"

2. Not sure on this one

3. Ehhh, it's not going to kill it. Won't cool QUITE as well, but the difference might be marginal at most.

4. Look for impellar damage, check for shaft place, visually inspect the insides as much as possible to make sure there is no rust or any other build up.

5. Make sure your wastegate isn't a peice of junk (I don't know what it is or where you acquired it). If for some reason that goes out you will be A. not boosting or B. Spiking to a much higher boost that you ever want to see on our cars.
