My turbo build! Finaly!
thanks!
i didnt get a chance to work on it today...i had to work today and we ran into problems, so we didnt finish till now. And it's dark now and it started to rain...again!!! It seems like since ive got the kit, when i work, it's nice out, when i get off work, it starts raining or just gets dark. So annoying!
Ill hopefully finish it up tomorrow with probably the exception of the oil pan taping.
On the topic, where is the best place or where am i supposed to tap the oil return to? I know in the second part of the oil pan, but where exactly? how high, etc.?

If you haven't gotten that bolt off for the cat yet, I just put my header/downpipe on yesterday and that bolt was impossible. I ended up taking my whole exhaust off just to get better leverage on the two bolts holding the cat section on. Ended up taking 3 people holding the exhaust in place and pulling on the bolts. Good luck
Did you weld that on? and does that go on the passanger side or the driver side? Also, does it matter where it goes? Does it have to be smack dab in the middle?
I still havent gotten that bolt off...maybe ill do the entire exhaust removal like you did. Theres no way for me to use my stock stuff to hook it all up to my header.
This is going to be a long day! but its actually nice out. except it's a little cold, but it's sunny!
Ill be posting on and off today with questions ill porbably have!

ya its welded. you dont need to though you can just drill/tap it. some people have leaks, some dont. but this sure wont have any. um i cant remember i think the oil pan is closer to the passengers side...hahaha.
i would mark where return line to the oil pan is first than remove your oil pan, or do whatever is comfortable for you.

Definately mark your oil pan before removing it so you know where to put it and have room for it. It closer to the passenger side. But that pic of the oil pan would be the side facing the front of the car.
Update:
Still no dice on getting the O2 sensor near the cat off or the last bolt on the flange to the cat. Gona get the car running then bring it down the road to a shop to get it done.
I completed the piping properly now, and hooked up the BOV. Started a little on the vac lines. Tried to get the bolt that holds the dip stick in place, but no dice either after 40mins of trying...ill deal wtih that later as well.
Issues:
1 - I went to install the ECU and the voltage ECU thing, but my harness does not match the colors and pins layout that the instructions come with. (see pic) Do i have the wrong instructions? or the wrong ecu? And in the instructions, it only shows 2 rows in the ECU diagra. I have 3 rows of pins.

2 - All i have for what i think is my oil return line is a little brass fitting with a piece of hose. (see pic) Am i supposed to buy more hose and then connect it to the downpipe piece from the turbo? (also see pic) Is this sufficient amount of hose? I havent tapped the pan yet, so i dont know how much i need. I havent really looked at it yet, but now i saw the previous post, i know how the pan sits on the engine from the pic above in the other post.

3 - I can't figure out all the vac lines. The instructions are not very clear since they dont really label the pipes in the pictures they provide. Can anyone help? Ive got the one vac line that goes from the one nipple on the wastegate to the passanger side IC pipe. Where does the other nipple on the wastegate go? (see pic)

Where do the 2 valve cover vac line nipples go? is there supposed to be a "T" somewhere between these two?

Where does the intake manifold vac line tee into?

4 - The stainless braided line i have is obv. for the oil feed for the turbo. Does the other end of this line connect to where am supposed to remove the hex bolt right above the oil filter? Does it just thread into place? Also, i have a spare oil ring bolt thing, i think its called a bango bolt? That is attached to my turbo on the top of it, inbetween the hot and cold side of the turbo. Since the stainless line is all one piece (look at pic) is the one on the turbo a spare? Its the eye shapped thing im talking about, not the bolt with the hole in it...

I really want to get this all done tomorrow with the exception of the 2 bolts i cant get off. I have tomorrow off, so ill work on it 8 am sharp!

thanks man. At this point i need it! Im starting to regret doing this...this is the hardess turbo install ive ever done!! it's really starting to get to me and the whole " oh s*** what the hell did i just do to my perfectly good working, new car?!?!" is starting to sink in. LOL
But reading a few older threads here, i guess im not the only one who has felt the pain of a self install....it doesnt help that it's f'in cold now too!

**DOUBLE CHECK!! on that valve cover part. i never seen anyone T into that for vacum. the 02 03 guys usually T into the vacuum line the left side of theIM. the pix of the IM with a nipple sticking out might be correct, not too sure though. all i remember it would be on the left side when you face the car from the front when i visited rrm. (passengers side). I T-ed into the U part of the IM but thats because i have a 05 lancer and i dont have the extra vacuum line like the 02 03s. we have different manifolds as well.
**your oil return lines are correct.
(TURBO---> gasket/RETURN LINE (j pipe) --->RUBBER HOSE--->FITTING--->OIL PAN)
make sure you put rtv beteen the return line gasket to the turbo. get the black stuff its heavy duty compared to the blue one.
**this is how your vacuum pressure is suppose to be setup
T's into
BOV, piggyback, boost gauge (if available)
**your wastegate looks fine
**for the ecu i have an auto i just remember tapping into the far right ecu harness if i sit the down in the passengers side. the best thing is to call rrm for directions. mine might be differently plus im using the 5th injector.
**oil feed line connects to your turbo
hex bolt (above filter)--->fitting---> steel braided line--->ball fitting---->turbo
-use teflon tape to avoid leaks
check your steel braided line "the eye" part. its suppose to connect like a ball fitting.
**2nd o2 sensor.......use a rubber mallet and o2 socket w/ socket wrench. it works..

I have an '06. Theres not a lot of vac lines like you said. Ill follow your set up! im also using the 5th injector too.
Thanks for the info! that will help tons as well get this all done!!
What is a ball fitting though? The braided line with the "eye" shaped fitting with a hole in it? then a bolt goes through that "eye" and screws into the turbo? The bolt also has a hole in it. Is that what a ball fitting is? same idea except instead of a bolt its a metal ball that lubricates, kind of like a ball bearing almost?

since you have an 06 it should be the same as the 04-05 i assume. heres a pix of my vacuum line. the U part i T'ed into:
