In What League is a RRM Turbo Lancer
I think to seriously compete with a Vette (a C6), the GTI and the Civic SI (since you mentioned it being more performance oriented) would need similar mods to the Lancer. Granted you are starting off with a better platform but even then, a GTI would need a bigger turbo which would likely require internals, head work and maybe even tranny work. Same goes for the Civic. For a daily driver, a turboed Lancer can be great, it'll be reasonably quick without being crazy, reliable and fuel efficient.
. Personally I feel 250whp on a FF is a good amount especially if you are using it as a DD. A lot of people on the Lancer forums need to be more realistic about what they can achieve with this car.

Let's do a comparison then.
2009 Honda Civic SI
HP: 197
Torque: 139
Redline: 8000
Transmission: 6-speed manual
LSD: Yes
Curb weight: 2899 lbs
Weight-to-power ratio: 14.7 lbs per HP
C&D 0-60 and 1/4 mile times: 6.7 and 15.1
2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS
HP: 168
Torque: 167
Redline: 6500
Transmission: 5-speed manual
LSD: No
Curb weight: 3043
Weight-to-power ratio: 18.1 lbs per HP
C&D 0-60 and 1/4 mile times: 7.X (based on a 7.8 second time for the 2008 CVT GTS model) and 15.9
On a track, the SI would kill the Lancer because it weighs less, has more power, more gears and an LSD.

On a track with corners, the SI would bend the Lancer over and defile it, it wouldn't be pretty. The SI comes in a sedan form as well.
as said before you cant really compare the two. nobody is on hondas ***** or anything but the Si is overall the better car.and you simply cant compare the two because it beats the lancer in almost every category. just like the cobalt SS, im no chevy fan neither will i probably ever own an american car but the new SS TC is an amazing car..it even gives evos and stis a hard time around the track so ill give credit where its due but you simply cant compare them..as been stated before if you want go fast..you got the wrong car..
