In What League is a RRM Turbo Lancer
reeeally..one about usin one of those computer things i see in hella modded cars...i dont know much about the stuff, but damn to me its weird that this hasnt been figured out yet..its 2009 kids
....forgive my ignorance..but what the hell is so complicated about doing it...tune it, save it..then do another tune..save that..and have some kind of comp module or whatever mounted inside car so u can switch...i mean 1000$ with the tuning included to me sounds somewhat reasonable give or take..i wouldnt wanna be runnin on the streets 24/7 wit mad amount of power that it gets annoying u know, and not have to go back for a tune everytime i want the full potential goin to the wheels.
If you want a system like a WRC car has, it costs a small fortune. Their system is really neat, it's literally just a dial and voila, they have the map they want. It probably costs more than your house though. What makes it difficult is you need to somehow connect a controller to the ECU and have a way for that controller to reflash the ECU. I know it sounds easy but it's more involving.
Why would you want map switching? Even if you had 300whp you still wouldn't need it.
I mean driving normally you'd be in vacuum the whole time and wouldn't even build boost. So it's like your car isn't boosted. Even if you were on the top of 2nd gear at 5k RPMs with 20-30% throttle it'll be at 0 vacuum until you actually get on it.
So I don't know why you'd want map switching. If the car is a track/daily car and you'd want to switch map, what's so hard about plugging the USB into your laptop and flash the other map in a minute?
Anyways, Harman Motive down in LA can do dual maps for EVOs and STis. It costs x2 the usual tune.
For my car I have a 13 PSI map and 10 PSI map, I can switch both by using my laptop.
The thing is, since our ECUs don't have tables for boost, I still have to pop the hood and turn the boost down from my EBC to 10 PSI or 13 PSI. You can use an EBC to change boost levels from the inside of the car at a push of a button, but then you still need to change the maps on the ECU to compensate for fueling and timing. To link all these together to change everything all at once at a push of a button can get tricky.

ok thanks for the info, that clears it up alot for me..seems reasonable, i was jus more focused on having the option between 2 maps..if ya gotta do a quick flash of ur own wit a laptop no problem...would said shop have to provide u with a comp program so u can interact with the ECU?
