I have one car to remind you about. it's a s/c 4banger. Remember the corrado G60, if anyone has driven it you know 4 bangers work well with superchargers.

Oh my gosh, don't forget about GM's supercharged 3800 V6. This is an excellent domestic engine found in many Pontiac's and Buicks, which even import lovers like C&D and R&T have to give props too. And if you visit some of the Grand Prix GTP/Buick Regal GS sites, you will see that they are very moddable too.

V6's can go either way. GM proved that a single turbo on a V6 could have devastating results with the 3.8L V6 turbo they used in the Grand National, Syclone, Typhoon and 40th Aniv Trans Am, and they are proving it today with the SC'd 3800's.

I'm well aware of GM's SC on Buick and Pontiac, just didn't think of them last time. They are solid SC.

As for the Big 3 attempts at TC, the vast majority of them had TC or oil line failures. From the Merkur XR4Ti to the Cyclone, all have failures, except the possibility of the 2.2L from Dodge. It's up to the owner to replace faulty/shotty OEM parts.

Let's see if Dodge can make solid SR-T (can't remember the badging) w/o TC or oil line failures within a 3 year span.

that's not the norm. 1 sc'ed 4 banger in more than 2 decades. not a good ratio.

Sounds to me like you haven't had much experience with blown cars. They're every bit as effective as TC's over, but with different dyno results as far as peaks, shapes of powerbands etc. A properly blown car is something to steer clear of. Compressed air is compressed air. The engine doesn't know where it's comin' from, it just knows what the MAS, MAP, carb etc. tells it.

...My vote remains with turbocharging though of course.

Youre damned right hobie...

I used own a 88 lx 5.0 mustang convertable, with a 13psi Vortec supercharger. (done right, of course). It was a force. the only reason id chose a super over a turbo is due to turbo lag.

but hey, ive yet to see a supercharger kit for my lancer...... i wonder if road//race is terriblely busy today????

like i could afford that

Choosing the appropriately sized turbo (between compressor, turbine and housing) should allow you more than enough flexibility to eliminate or create as much turbo lag as you desire.

This is one of those threads which has gone on for too long, with people repeating the same thing over and over again. It was worth reading for the laughs, even though the infamous "Rabbit with Pancake on head" did not appear in it.

Lets string a post called "Poll - best fuel: Gas, Methanol, Nitromethane, or Hershey's Chocolate Syrup" - and watch the ensuing hilarity of misinformation and opinion that will spew forth. At least one person will say "a mix of them all is best!". Would that be for putting in the car, or for drinking with cookies???

Almost... you need some rocket propellant and orange juice in there... and just the right proportions.

But to get back on topic. I like superchargers. ;-) I'd explain why, but well, you get the idea...

Hey guys,

As a manufacturer of an SC system, I know we are going to start off with a bias look, but if its any help, we have been making a ton of power with the SC even comparing it to the turbo guys on the Mitsu 3G boards.

Link:http://www.eclipseforums.org/showthr...0&pagenumber=1

You'll see some DYNO posts and see what power we made and how soon it comes on. The SC has no lag and is available right off the line. Its so fluid and Dynamic it makes the little engine feel a lot bigger. There is no turbo lag at any RPM and on the hwy. it has power to spare. I personally out motored a 540 on his turf.

Whichever one you can find cheaper IMO. Either would be just fine for power.

I see….. I seem to have put the brakes on this Thread, I read it over again and a lot of the info being shared is true to the past, we have been proving over and over that Vortech style SC can make power on smaller displacement cars, with the same flexibility than a TC.

In another thread we posted our WHP on the US Spec Lancer 5spd tester:

187WHP with 171lb/ft of torque at 7-8psi, with perfect air fuels. This HP represents our introductory HP and will only go up from there.

The ides behind our systems is not peak HP or to have the most HP, it's the Dynamics of the kit; there is no lag or crazy heat being generated. This kit represents a real world hp with ease of install and use, and zero maintenance.

We have sold over 170kit combined with our V6, I4, and Toyota in just a year; we hope to be able to bring the popularity of our SDS to this community.
