Still haven't gotten around to deleting the current inherited file yet. I looked for it briefly but wasn't able to find the one it was using. I'm still looking into defining the roms and theres a few things I still need to download that will help. Been busy with work as well. May is our busiest month.

Hard to believe its been May since my last reply. Just thought I'd update everyone on whats going on. Chase (beautifulpunk) has been working on the manifold and this one should fit without any problems. He put a 06 transmission on his 02-03 lancer and has been working on the manifold below. His transmission died on him so he decided to go with a 04-06 transmission for us. I believe this will be replacing the current SC manifold, if I understand correct. From the first manifold I got in my hands I can tell you this is going to be a SOLID manifold!! It is way heavier than the current SC manifold and is built like a tank. Here are some pics of his progress.

This is a pic of the turbo intake clearing the external slave. Keep in mind this is also a evo 8 with a 10.5 hotside. I'm sure we might even be able to use a evo 9 turbo now as well as any other evo stock frame turbo (FP anyone?).

Here's another shot of the turbo intake

And here's the manifold tacked up. As you can see it is farther from the radiator hose as well.

I've been pretty busy working and also buying a house. I should be moving mid-August if everything works out. I'll also have a garage so the weather is no longer a issue for me. Also, just another part update I bought Demon's built head. Since I don't see a evo in my future any time soon I decided to go all out.

If you would like a manifold you can PM Chase about the details. I'm not sure what the going price for these manifolds will be but I can tell you its definitely going to be worth every penny!!

Sorry I have read this thread a few times and I am still trying to understand what you are trying to do? Here is the way I am interpreting this..

You are able to pull your ROM which consists of a base xml (likie evo7base, evo7base2, evo8base, etc) and your romid.xml

Your are wanting to re-define your inherited romid.xml file? What base xml file are you inheriting from?

This is where I am confused on what you are trying to do. Edit your romid.xml file? I assume you have a folder set far away from where ecuflash and rom metadata live on your laptop. The two bigggest things that killed me early on attempting to learn Ecuflash was attempting to edit both my romid.xml and my base.xml in the same folder as ecuflash or even Openecu prior to reaching ecuflash. After I initally pulled my stock ROM image (and backed it up in about 8 different places like every pen drive I have, 2-3 CDs, my netbook and my wifes laptop) I created a folder that said something completely different like "my stock *** ROM RED LANCER NA" which stils on my desktop and only gets opened to copy the ROM in anther folder on my desktop thats name "Editing ROM folder". I got completely frustrated as I was having the same problem seeing ROM images I downloaded even after setting my file path to "EDITING ROM FOLDER". I would get a rom id like 98190014 (Note: dont ever leave the romid.xml as the number of your romid. That is You need to change it to a specific name since leaving it as the romid number, ecuflash has the need to use anythig with the romid as the file name.So change the file name to something unquinqe like "my dumbass attempted at editing.XML.) I could see it in this folder but what I didnt realize I had to do was physically put.xml or.bin in the file name. It seems like what difference could that make since its already a xml file yada yada. As soon as i placed .xml or .bin in the actual file name I was able to pull it up and edit it as I needed (and still do need).

I never editied my romid. I just copy and pasted my stock ROM from my "stock *** ROM RED LANCER" to "EDITING ROM FOLDER" and adding.bin to the file name and I could pull it up in ecu flash and use notepad++ and copy and pasted material from a different rom id into my notepad++ xml file. You also have to define some things in your base.xml as if you dont define it in your base xml your romid.xml may not find it since the base doesn't have a address to give to the inherited romid.xml. Hope that made some sense.

I watch r3complies tutorial about 8 times to figure a lot of things out and still refer to that as even more importantly Merlins guide to ecuflash for evo789 pdf file which is easy to find here or at evoscan.com

Let me know if I am way off base on what your are trying to do. If it helped then awesome keep it up and keep the thread going. My build thread is coming very soon. Only need a few minor things to start the build which I hope to get today and possibly talk to chase about.

Great job and keep up the good work as I read as much of these builds as I can in preparation for BOOST DAY

I haven't had time to even mess with my rom. Its not defined and have been busy working and buying a house. I wanted to get the hang of tuning before I began to boost but I have a good concept of it I think. I'll be running RoadSpikes "big maps". For some reason I'm able to flash it to my ecu. I do get a CEL for the transmission but thats the only code. I haven't really dived in to how to define a rom yet with all the work and house browsing going on. I should have plenty of downtime in the winter to do all the ecu stuff, IF, i'm not already boosted. If I have any problems tuning I can always get some help with a remote tune. Chase and me will update when we can.

Some teaser pics of the intercooler.

It will be using factory bolts to get mounted up.

As you can see you will still need to remove the crash bar.

This is on Chase's car. Its definitely not a evo intercooler. Some bumper modding is still needed like the evo intercooler.

Very understandable. Which is why I bypass the network sheild at work and read threads. oops! What code is it throwing? I have a PC based scan tool WITH "ADDITIONL SOFTARE CAPABILITES" CAN GET YOU A TON OF TROUBLESHOOTING INFO THAT OTHERWISE TAKES A LOT OF SEARCHING FOR 1 OF 20 POSSIBLE ISSUES. Sorry caps lock. Could be just a simple address change or type-o from base to romid. As long as its doesnt slam gears really hard or youre not reving and then dumping (I kow youre auto which is why I say that inherently). Check crank sensors or gear box. Most likely a effing PVC line, it never fails to swcrew me when I trouble shoot then notive I have no pressure. Still working on parts. I was going to get ahold of Chase on a fab issue as mannifold is going to take up a lot of space that will e needed. Do agree that turbo mani is pretty excellent job. Obviously you know the more knowledgable people when it comes to tuning. Its a process but Senates threads as well as Hornstr? (hope your still out there bro) and 03lances is what got me started with the programs. If possible browse evo scans functions and just data log as you will learn what eeds adjustments etc.Great thread though. I learn a lot of new things and variations between build threads. Hopefully I will start soon. Still need wideband (prefferably AEM UEGO so I can data log real time afr in evoscan.)

KEEP THESE GENERATION LANCERS ALIVE!!! If I wanted a Evo I am pretty sure I would buy a Talon or Mirage instead

Car shifts fine. I have a manual transmission but I'm using the auto maps. Thats the reason it throws the code when I flash the "big maps" but other than that it runs fine. I'm sure a periphery can be made to fix it tho.

Have you tried a ROM from an 02-03? I think the 06s used the same method as the 02-03s. 04-05s used mitsukernellocp while 02-03s used mitsukernel. This change would have to be made in the xml file.

I believe I tried a evo rom? I have to have the "mitsukernalocp" in my definition too. I think it has something to do with my memory model so I'm just using the "big maps". The CEL doesn't really bother me at this point considering its been on since I put my RRM exhaust manifold on.

Another small update showing the hard intercooler piping It should give you a pretty good idea of what the end result will look like.

If your interested in piping give beautifulpunk (Chase) a PM. We're thinking of just incorporating these pipes into the evo intercooler He can put ANY bov flange on the piping for you.

I have different size intercooler kits that i am working on. With this full kit the battery needs to be relocated to the evo battery location. IC kits come with 2.5 or 3 inch piping depending on the IC kit u want. The Evo IC kit is 2.5 inch piping..

I would be very interested if the hard piping kit would fit on my setup which sounds like it would :-)
Sounds like a good time for me to switch to sd and get some pipes off ya.

I like hows its starting to look with the hard pipes. I could defiantly benefit with an upgrade too. 2.5" would be perfect. Bigger Intercooler is needed on my car as well.....Looking good man.
