I can't see the maps below. It didn't ask me which file to inherit either when I opened it up.

He said to try and inherit another definition. I just need to know how to do that when it doesn't ask you

It doesn't look right to me the path should be rommetadata not the folders in it.

On the rom file directory or the metadata directory? So just back it out to rommetadata instead of going to mitsubishi/lancer?

I backed out to "rommetadata" but still can't see the maps. Burner said he had to inherit a definition for this rom too.

Is that what you meant RoadSpike? back it out to "rommetadata"?

Thanks,
Jake

I checked the definition files I downloaded and theres no definition for Burners rom. I need to inherit another definition but it hasn't asked me if I want to inherit another definition. Can I just modify a definition in notepad? If so hopefully the paths are still correct

its a 16 bit ecu the number of bytes the rom contains is dependent on the year. I'll assume you don't mean the new ecu's too which are 32 bit processors.

Whats the rom id on this btw is it one i made? You can just grab my definitions from the other forum.

Oh and yes backing it out to rommetadata was what i meant.

This is for a stock rom for a 05 Lancer. Burner got his maps to work by inheriting another file from a similar year. His rom is 96630007 (05 Lancer) & mine is 88250010 (06 Lancer). Both are undefined. I don't know how to inherit another definition tho. I was looking possibly buying IDA if I run into some spare change I can't see any maps on both roms. I have a lot of time after work so I thought getting into something more constructive other then playing games online would be better.

If you haven't defined it already it should prompt you to create a definition for the rom. If it doesn't that probably means an xml was built and you can just erase it to start again.

It should say something like start new def, inheriet from existing, custom, etc. It should give you a drop down of the options.

I got my "copy" of IDA pro version 5.5 btw from a "questionable" internet source as i'm doing free work i figured free developer tools are needed hah!. Also I recommend decoding a really WELL defined rom like my own or a tephra rom so you can get a feel to what does what by looking at the the defined rom addresses and decoding them.

I had a copy of IDA pro, ditto as RS on how I "aqcuired" it lol. I have been looking everywhere for it I thought I had it backed up on a disc but cant seem to find it, nor can I find it on any of my computers hdd. I recently upgraded one of the laptops to win 7 Im wondering if I had it on that and wiped it out when I deleted the partition :-/

Yes, usually inside the mitsubishi then lancer folder should be named romid.xml
